by Tmauthe on Jun. 7, 2020
Anyone been catching anything from shore?

by Fish2Keep on May. 27, 2020
Went fishing last week and today

by MrFish797979 on Feb. 23, 2020
Fishing very slow today landed 2 in 5 hours, lots of people out but didn’t look like anyone was catching much around the Jubilee area. Could see pike swimming up to bait then turn and move on, and if they did bite it was just the tip of the minnow and spit it out and leave. They just weren’t hungry today.

by White5646 on Feb. 17, 2020
Was out for about 2 hours this afternoon. Reeled in a nice pike.

by kayser88 on Feb. 14, 2020
Yes TJSmith you can drive onto the lake. lots of tiny perch swimming around in middle to bottom water column. tons of pike in all areas of the water column. jig and smelt and medium 5 of diamonds have been hot for me this year.

by TJSmith on Feb. 3, 2020
Is the lake drivable with a truck yet?

Any new ice reports

by Campermaniac on Jan. 8, 2020
Is anyone pulling any keepers out ? It seems for years the lake is full of just short of regulation. You would think one year they all would grow past 63 cm. Or is the lake limiting the size growth somehow ? Anyone have some information as to why ?

Ice Report: 11 in
North side of lake by boat launch

by MrFish797979 on Dec. 28, 2019
Lots of flood water on the lake from Jubilee west. About inch of top ice then 1 to 2 inch gap that is full of water then approx 8 inches of good ice. No vehicles on lake yet, no issue for quads and sleds other than breaking thru that top layer of ice. Did try going down the lake but flood water got worse and worse so turned around and fished back around Jubilee, landed 3 in 3hours and a few other hits...fish were biting really soft today, barely notice the rod tip moving.

by INCEPTION on Jun. 2, 2019
Was at wizard today and it was great, I caught 19 and my dad caught 8 all pike, no keepers, I've heard there's walleye in there but I've never caught any, just using all assortments of lures in the shallow water, lake is quite clear so far this year, mainly just spoons but also on frogs, jerkbaits and spinners

by redneckfishnalbertan on Jan. 11, 2019
15 to 20 ft should be good

by INCEPTION on Jan. 11, 2019
What’s doing good right now the deep or the shallows?

by Verjario on Jan. 6, 2019
Yeah I found the way on to the lake, wasn't hard to find. Came in off the jubilee side of the lake and went to the right , past all the shacks about 50 ft in front of the camp ground boat launch within 7 hours me and a friend, we caught 23 jack, nothing big. Though I do have to say some of the people on skidoos are @$$ holes, is it necessary with all that lake to keep going back and forth 15-20 away feet from people tents?

by Verjario on Jan. 3, 2019
That's good to know, I find it's odd that they aren't in the fishing regulations

by MrFish797979 on Jan. 3, 2019
We were fishing out in the bay off Jubilee, more to the east in about 6-8 feet of water. I don’t catch tons of them in this lake but definitely get 3 or 4 a winter, catching 2 in the same day was a bit of a surprise for me. I release everything so they are definitely still out there.

by Me1969 on Jan. 2, 2019
There are Burbot in Wizard, I have caught several

by Verjario on Jan. 2, 2019
Okay so I'm a little confused, people are saying burbs, which I assume is meant as burbot, and I have a friend who's cousin sent him a picture of her holding a burbot she caught at wizard lake, I assumed she must have mixed up what lake she was at because according to the fishing regulations guide for wizard lake, it only mentions I believe it was jack, perch and lake white. Doesnt say anything about burbot
by redneckfishnalbertan on Jan. 2, 2019
I'd like to know as well

by Art92 on Jan. 2, 2019
Hi MrFish797979 where do you catch the burbs

by MrFish797979 on Jan. 1, 2019
Out for the day with the family, landed 25 fish including couple nice burbs. People driving trucks out at Jubilee but not going down the lake...there was some flood water about halfway to the narrows but for the most part ice is close to 12”

by fish fanatic on May. 4, 2018
Anyone know how the thaw is doing?

by Ilovefishing on Mar. 12, 2018
Went fishing with my mom and daughter in this Lake yesterday. Many thanks to the guy who helped me drill two holes using his gas auger. Otherwise, I would have spent one hour to make two holes using my hand auger. I landed two pikes of small size and released. It was still fun. It was my mom and my daughter's first time to watch ice fishing. They enjoyed it.

by MrFish797979 on Mar. 11, 2018
Landed 10 pike today, 8 where during the morning bite. Fishing does seem to be slower this winter but this lake never disappoints

by LoganSchenk on Mar. 10, 2018
No fish today, but a huge thank you to the guys who came and saved me some time from having to hand auger through the ice by drilling a couple holes for me! Another HUGE thanks to the guys who gave me a boost after my car died! I have never seen a better Mcgyver job!

by MrFish797979 on Mar. 4, 2018
Was out for the morning, landed 8 and had at least double that or more in hits. Close to 30” of ice and a foot of snow out there.
by The DeBo on Feb. 24, 2018

by Weekendwarrior on Feb. 5, 2018
Last time I was out it was dead so even 3 undersized is better. Thanks guys maybe I'll head out there this week.

by Ilovefishing on Feb. 5, 2018
I went fishing yesterday. I caught 3 pikes: 53cm, 55cm and 59cm. No keeper.

by lotksie on Feb. 4, 2018
yup they bitting!
by Weekendwarrior on Feb. 4, 2018
Anybody been out lately? Just wondering how ya did. Are they bitting at all?
by Weekendwarrior on Jan. 29, 2018
Also trigger are you the same guys that posts on wab a lot?

by Weekendwarrior on Jan. 29, 2018
Has anybody been out over the last 2 weeks? Just wondering how the fishing has been?

by Trigger on Jan. 15, 2018
Yea now I know why they call it wizard lol a week ago I couldn't keep them off the hook and then *poof* like magic there all gone. There was a guy out there with a camera and flasher and didn't pick up one thing all day I caught one small guy and not even another hit after that. Sudden weather change must have shocked them.

by Weekendwarrior on Jan. 14, 2018
This lake has never been a super busy lake but this year it seems pretty slow ( 1 small pike in 5 hours) and even less decent pike. I like it here but I think I'll be going somewhere else for a couple weeks and see if fishing picks up later in the season

by Trigger on Jan. 14, 2018
How did everyone make out? I was out for a short time yesterday morning and I was a bit slower so I headed to a different lake.

by Weekendwarrior on Jan. 11, 2018
Was out today only about 3 hours . Lots of ice that for sure. Had a few bites but nothing came up . A saw a guy pull 2 small pike. Usually have better luck here but I didn't fish very long so hard to say. Even with the cold was a nice day

by anythingfishing on Jan. 8, 2018
i have caught burbot here before last year i have yet to go this year, they are in this lake there i dont care what you read on the regs lol

by Ilovefishing on Jan. 7, 2018
I caught 5 fishes last year. One was burbot, the other four were pikes. Only the burbot was a keeper.

by MrFish797979 on Jan. 4, 2018
Absolutely there is Burbot in this lake, I have caught numerous and seen many more caught here. As for perch good luck...if you are lucky enough to find them chances are they are very small, been fishing in this lake for years and only have heard of 1 person catching catching a 4" perch. Lots of pike though, not a lot of keepers...out of the approx 250 pike I caught over last winter I think maybe 5 were keeper size, but still lots of fun to catch!

by Trigger on Jan. 4, 2018
Have you caught them in here? I was there today and no one knew about it at all including a guy that's lived at the lake for 22 years.... if there actually in there has anyone caught them? I tried to get onto the perch today and couldn't even find them but the jack were plentiful

by Bbarber on Jan. 4, 2018
Actually there is burbs in the lake!! And yes read the Reg's .. they are not listed that's correct, but It says on pg. 60 of the Reg's that you can keep 2 up until feb..

by Trigger on Jan. 4, 2018
There's no burbot in here. Puke and perch only. Read the regs.

by LordOfTheFish on Jan. 3, 2018
I got in there yesterday and had a great day with a friend. Out of the 10 we caught 1 of the jack was 70 cm. Was one of the most eventful times I've had fishing.
by Bhlehr on Jan. 3, 2018
Caught 7 yesterday. No keepers. Biggest was 55 cm. Ice 18 inches.

by LowellG on Jan. 3, 2018
Has anyone been catching jacks that you can keep?

Can I please get someone to instruct me on how to get to parking on the farmers field? I'll be coming from Northside Edmonton and I'm unsure of how to get to wizard. Thanks in advance! Happy New Years

Thanks for you reply MrFish797979! I'll go out to Wiziard Lake during Christmas. I hope I catch some pike keeper!

by Me1969 on Dec. 24, 2017
Is anyone driving on yet?

by Riverbear on Dec. 23, 2017
Hey there Alberta fisherman. Just follow the limits (unlisted) at the first page of fishing zone regs. (PP2). Fairly certain it’s two burb before February hits. Hoping to come snag a cannonball burb there as well. Thar be dragons.

by MrFish797979 on Dec. 23, 2017
And yes parking is free at Jubilee in the winter. Ice is about 12" now everywhere but I'm still not driving on yet till we get a few solid weeks of cold weather again, lots of springs in this lake especially along the southside...not worth the risk in my opinion.

by MrFish797979 on Dec. 23, 2017
I have been out the last 2 weekends and between me and the father we landed 15 last weekend and 13 the weekend before

by Ilovefishing on Dec. 22, 2017
Anyone knows do we need to pay for parking if I park in parking lot of Jubilee Park? I am scared of driving car on the icy lake.

by Albertafisherman on Dec. 11, 2017
Can you keep burbot at this lake? I hear about lots in this lake but doesn't show nothing about them in the regs for this lake which is weird

by FullbackShak on Jul. 6, 2017
Went early (5am), brought in one undersized pike in the morning, then nothing for the rest of the day. Most of the fishing holes are filled up by kids with their floaties by 9am

by LowellG on Jun. 15, 2017
Ok so was out today and trolled up one side and then back on the other side was about 50 yards out from shore, caught 10 jack but all under 63 cm A couple were really small, don't know where the big ones are, was using A Red and Yellow five of diamonds

by LowellG on Jun. 15, 2017
So was wondering if anyone's catching any keepers, and where to go, thanks in advanced,

by Mikey1781 on Jun. 4, 2017
Went fishing here today. Was on the west side boat launch area. Water is very nice. Caught 3 little pike in 3 hrs but saw other guys catching some bigger ones not sure if they were keepers. Saw about 6 boats all together on the west end. Other then my nasty sunburn it was a great afternoon.

by ABCfishing on Mar. 31, 2017
One ling cod 3 pike. Lost 4-5 mystery fish. Assuming the exact same fish. Just a theory of how they behaviour of the fight and biting action. Very good for the last day of fishing. And the season ends in 30 mins

by Guest043659078133437 on Mar. 4, 2017
Try downsizing to a basic jig and minnow.

by INCEPTION on Mar. 4, 2017
Can anyone help me i've went 3 times and not a single jack i'm using treble hooks and a smelt and not a bite.

by Droc01 on Feb. 28, 2017
Two good spots never let me down. As the one guy said to the left of boat launch 100 down 20 yards off shore. Nice shelf there Other spot off the launch look to the south and slightly west there's a reed bed there start 15 yards off it and drill towards the center 6-18' of water. Good luck. Watch the narrows for all the springs. March they like to start opening up.

by wood69 on Feb. 28, 2017
Using a pink jig head and a minnow across from the weed patch few bites know of any good spots let me know out here right now in the frabill tent

by Weekendwarrior on Feb. 20, 2017
Fished three spots today lots of hits one decent fish brought up. Pretty busy but a really good day to be out. 30" of ice in spots and nothing that I saw under 24" lots of fishing to be done this year yet.
by Mikey1781 on Feb. 20, 2017
Ive fished just to the right of the boat launch not far off shore and that seems to be where everyone catches them.

by Wizardca on Feb. 14, 2017
Was there during the weekend for 2 hours in the afternoon. Got 1 good pike and that was it. Ice was so thick.

by Weekendwarrior on Feb. 14, 2017
Heading out next weekend with my neices ( first time out for them) wizard has always been good to me but haven't ice fished there this year. Any little tips on what those jacks are after would be greatly appreciated. I always find if people catch fish on there first trip out they are more likely to get back out there. Thanks

by Nick miscich on Feb. 14, 2017
How's the driving on wizard since it's been warm?

by Danb on Feb. 13, 2017

by WTFish on Feb. 11, 2017
A green Jighead tipped with a shiner in about 4-10 feet of water on the drop offs has always gave me fantastic luck for small pike, one after another everytime I fish wizard

by Mikey1781 on Feb. 4, 2017
D-rod devils lake is another good one that is tough to keep the pike off the line. Not far from Lac Ste Anne either.

by D-Rod on Feb. 4, 2017
oh well... I'll try again in a couple of weeks.. gonna try my luck at Lac Ste Anne (Yellowstone)

by Nick miscich on Feb. 4, 2017
I normally use smelts or minnows. A pink or green jig head works well too.

by D-Rod on Feb. 4, 2017
I bought smelt from "The Fishin' Hole" they are probably about 2.5-3" long... with a treble hook.. maybe the treble hook was too big??? I was almost at the middle of the lake... then we moved closer to shore about 12 fow...

by Nick miscich on Feb. 4, 2017
What were you using d rod? I've never been skunked here.

Random burbot. I caught a big one by the weed bed.

by D-Rod on Feb. 2, 2017

by WTFish on Feb. 2, 2017
Fished all day caught so many pike I lost count but nothing over 22", where are these burbot I keep hearing of? Or are they more of a lucky random catch?

by BigBam on Feb. 1, 2017
D-rod, was there a few weeks ago, most people were set up close to shore, we were in 20 - 22 ft of water. Had pike action all day. Kids had a blast.

by FISHMITS on Feb. 1, 2017
D-rod,no shortage of pike at wizard.head out the boat launch at jubilee and anywhere between there and the weed bed across the lake is good.i fish 2 feet off bottom with a smelt on a treble.

by Toekneefish on Jan. 23, 2017
Was out Friday the 20th quit counting after a dozen however as has been said before there were no keepers. Still a great day of action

by BiggieB on Jan. 20, 2017
Never have caught many keepers out of wizard maybe only like 3-4 in 3 years.....but its a fun place to take people to learn to fish, usually catch anywhere between 4-10 pike while out and sometimes the occasional burbot in late winter, Was out yesterday, caught 5 pike, saw nothing on camera...minimal snow, but still had to push someone out cause they got stuck... ICE is at least 24-26 inches, plenty safe...

Has anyone caught any decent pike, I've fought lots of little guys but nothing in the keeper range. And if anyone has any perch info on this lake that would be great!

by Gustov on Jan. 6, 2017
I was reading last night that you only need 12" to drive a half ton truck on the ice. I am no expert and this is not an official answer to your question but at 21" of ice I'd say you are good to drive your rv on the ice. Having said that, there is a nice parking lot just off the boat launch and you can walk your equipment in if that makes you feel safer.

by Danb on Jan. 4, 2017
Got a question. How much ice would be safe to drive on with a 30ft rv trailer?

by newscientist on May. 24, 2016
Lady Ice, do you think shore fishing on wizard will catch me some jacks, or I have to use a boat? I had good luck in the winter deep in the lake but I think the shore line is deep enough to target those jacks, right?

by Lady Ice on May. 23, 2016

by FISHMITS on May. 12, 2015
You can't fish while the lake is closed, even if you are native.

by Riverbear on May. 8, 2015
You need a treaty card with you if you are fishing. Other than that, all fishing rules apply.

by Freddy27 on May. 8, 2015
were they native? No that it matters, just as we all know they don't need a lic and they can fish anytime

by geedub on Apr. 20, 2015
yeah, don't confront. poachers have no scruples. if you can observe them leaving, get a plate. let the fish cops deal. hearing way too many stories like this. sick.
by dan1977 on Apr. 20, 2015
I did confront them....but they got very hostile and I had my kids with me.....so I had to walk away. I did not know where they came from (which vehicle was theirs) but at least when we got back from our boat ride, they were gone.

by geedub on Apr. 20, 2015
Get a plate ## and report a poacher!!! Free reward $$ and you teach these guys a lesson about how to treat our resources. If you do nothing you are basically telling them they can do whateve they want.
by dan1977 on Apr. 19, 2015
It was very bothersome seeing guys fishing today at the lake. Standing at the boat launch and fishing!!!

by dan1977 on Apr. 19, 2015

by Northernpike on Aug. 9, 2014
It might be the blue algae in the lake making them not bite. This lake is starting to suck every year it's getting slower and slower for fishing it does not help people poaching at this lake taking way more then they should and not legal size that kills a lake

by Pikster on Aug. 8, 2014
Tried fishing from the dock in evening but no bites used minnows but nada! Other boaters telling me little activity on boats as well.

by Northernpike on Jul. 9, 2014
@maxum I have had good luck on the south side if u launch your boat just outside of the campsite go right across the lake to the cabins u will see a big sign and right around there is good if it's slow fishing there follow that south side shore I never got much fish on the north side and by the power lines are good. If u are thinking on catching a keeper they are far and few in between at this lake or i have bad luck lol

by Ninja on Feb. 24, 2014
Hey people, I've never been to this lake before, can you drive on this lake from the dock?? Is there only the one place to drive on?? Is the ice safe to drive the full length of it ?? Thx

by Madfisherman 88 on Feb. 20, 2014

by Madfisherman 88 on Feb. 19, 2014

by Joshlehr on Feb. 1, 2014
Really good fishing northernpike, go about 100 feet out from launch it's about 10-15 feet deep. Tip ups 1 foot from bottom with large minnows (salted works best) and they will be hitting. Mostly 30-50cm but you can get the odd 60-75 great fun and good to drive on

by Northernpike on Feb. 1, 2014
Heading out tomorrow to wizard lake with the fam and my niece give update on fishing

by iFish Guest on Feb. 1, 2014

by Mikejulien12 on Jan. 29, 2014
I went out this morning from 9-noon. I caught about twenty really, really small perch on a 1/16 ounce jig and maggots. One jack as well.

by Newfie69 on Jan. 26, 2014
On the ice now. There is still lots here. No snow on it makes for a dangerous walk. 10am. Fishing for 1.5hrs with 2 bites. :(

by iFish Guest on Jan. 25, 2014
Don't drive on just walk and you'll be fine

by Northernpike on Jan. 24, 2014

by iFish Guest on Jan. 24, 2014
Was out on the lake yesterday, fished from 1- 430 pm. Got 5 fish out of hundred bites, 3 big ones but none kept. Caught all 5 by deadsticking with jighead and smelts. Great day overall.

by Northernpike on Jan. 22, 2014
Ya they are to small to keep but fun to catch

by Mikejulien12 on Jan. 22, 2014
I was using a copper wire worm with worms on it. The Perch are really tiny and are tough to hook but there are tons there if you have the patience.

by Northernpike on Jan. 22, 2014
We were using maggots with a pink tear drop hook last weekend

by Newfie69 on Jan. 22, 2014
Hey everyone. What is everyone using to catch the perch? I have never tried for them. Always go for pike.

by Mikejulien12 on Jan. 22, 2014
I was out yesterday just in front of the boat launch on the east side of the lake. It was a pretty fun day of fishing, I caught a couple jack and a couple perch. The ice is about 13 inches thick, 3 inches of white ice and 10 inches of clear ice.

by Northernpike on Jan. 18, 2014
Was on the east side of the lake people we driving there 350 ton trucks on the ice caught 5 fish 21 fish between the 5 of use and 1 keeper. Lots of water in top of ice by the beach fished from 8-5 seen tons of fish on camera. Caught some perch with worm but very small not worth keeping

by iFish Guest on Jan. 18, 2014

by Mikejulien12 on Jan. 17, 2014
What will the ice be like after all the warm weather??

by iFish Guest on Jan. 16, 2014
What does this warm weather do to the ice?? Will it still be good for a snowmobile?

by Northernpike on Jan. 16, 2014
I notest that too last weekend it seemed like they were hitting on tip-ups the most. Thanks for the update

by Jimmy wilson on Jan. 16, 2014
Used camera saw tons of pike served up everything but couldn't get them to bite. Smelts, herring, sardines jigs with worms nothing seemed to work they just sat there looked at them then turned away. Not aggressive at all

by Northernpike on Jan. 15, 2014
The best way to access the lake is go to wizard lake camp ground but don't turn into the camp site just go strait and you will run into the lake if u want directions let me know and I will tell u

by Northernpike on Jan. 15, 2014
@DK120721. I went where u were but I did not go into the swimming area I was just before it and I was close to shore and I was catching lots off tipup and ya they are not biting hard. I fish this lake very often

by iFish Guest on Jan. 14, 2014
What is the best way to access Wizard? I have been to Pigeon three times this year and have been skunked! Is this lake worth checking out?

by Dk120721 on Jan. 14, 2014
Went out today from 10-2pm, fist time there this year and I was kinda disappointed. Went between boat launch and the campsite dock area. Lots of fingerling perch and a couple light hits. Saw two pike and only caught 1 on the tip up right before I left. Lots of flood water still so I didn't want to drive too far and looked as though no one else has been driving on the lake. Water was very murky too.

by Northernpike on Jan. 13, 2014
Heading out on Sunday I will post how I do trying to fish for purch and ling and jack . If any one is fishing on sat let me know how it went

by Buckhuntn on Jan. 12, 2014

by Northernpike on Jan. 11, 2014
I was out today I would not drive on the ice u can drive a snowmobile on there. there is a total of 15" of ice and about 7" of white ice so there is 8" of good ice. No slush on top of ice. It was a slow day they are not aggressive seen lots on camera

by MetalMatt on Jan. 11, 2014

by Northernpike on Jan. 10, 2014
I will be going out tomorrow morning I will post what the ice thickness is

by Newfie69 on Jan. 10, 2014

by iFish Guest on Dec. 27, 2013

by GreasyPike89 on Jun. 24, 2013
Decent morning Friday at the Wiz. Had about 15 to the boat in 4.5 hours (one line in the water). Mostly smaller ones minus the three 4lbers. Water was glass

by iFish Guest on Jun. 23, 2013
Excellent fishing when biting, 20+ jack in 2.5 hours. Lots of water skiing unfortunately

by gear04ipod on Jun. 23, 2013
can somebody tell me where/how how to get to east bay for shore fishing? i have always parked at that Jubilee place. is there another place?... Thanks

by iFish Guest on May. 30, 2013
can am 400 here went out today for about 1/2 hour off sore tried everything in my bag nothing worked but will have the boat on the lake soon should be better fishing

by iFish Guest on May. 28, 2013
went out on Sunday very slow in the morning went for a ride to the other side of the lake only caught 2 came back and fished by the weeds caught 10

by iFish Guest on May. 19, 2013
Great day fishing from shore, two pike over 63cm and two hammer handles, kept one to feed to the dogs. Gotta keep those pike numbers in check. Saw a ton of minnows jumping outside a weed bed, saw some perch. Two bald eagles, an osprey, and a red tail all in the same spot, weird considering how territorial red tails are. Fished for a couple hours, just love this lake!

by gear04ipod on May. 19, 2013
exactly what he said. we fished that lake all winter and the ratio of legal fish to keep to under sized is like 1:25, i got a 75cm out of there this year biggest iv seen out of there. btw find it hard to believe u caught 3 and all were legal size to take home....

by iFish Guest on May. 19, 2013
The reason you guys are having no more walleye is because the pike keep eating them. I caught 3 pike today and when I opened them up at home I found 3 walleye in each of their stomachs, Lower the size regulations on the pike so that more pike can be caught and more walleye can be saved and you'll see the walleye community at wizard start to come back to normal!!but this will only work with decrease in the rapidly growing pike population

by iFish Guest on May. 19, 2013
I take my dogs there all the time, we see a few local dogs swimming too, I'm sure if you stay away from public areas with kids swimming, you shouldn't have any issues. I take mine early morning when I go fishing and there aren't a lot of people.

by iFish Guest on May. 11, 2013
Does anybody know if dogs are allowed at Wizard? I live near by and looking for a place to take my pup for a swim as Pigeon is to busy and the road is too close to the beach....

by Sdoering on Apr. 30, 2013
Anyone know how the ice is melting on wizard ? How's it looking ?

by iFish Guest on Apr. 27, 2013
I got a couple perch while pike fishin from shore on a #0 balck/yellow five of diamonds. Weird, hook was just about bigger than them. I Let em go of course.

by BigFish26 on Apr. 23, 2013
Ya a lot of people shore fish there in the summer time me included the only thing I caught from shore tho was pike

by iFish Guest on Apr. 16, 2013
Sorry I meant stick to east bay

by gear04ipod on Apr. 16, 2013
thanks

by iFish Guest on Apr. 16, 2013
A lot of private property at this lake. I've seen guys fishing by the east boat launch and by jubilee park. I'm usually kayaking it in the bays. West boat launch has terrible access too many reeds. A lot of power boaters too if you're around the middle of the lake, makes for crappy fishing. I'd stick to the west bay.

by iFish Guest on Apr. 13, 2013
is there anywhere for shore fishing come summer?

by iFish Guest on Apr. 13, 2013
Anyone live out there or been by recently? How's the ice melt lookin? Can't wait for May 15th!!

by gear04ipod on Mar. 2, 2013
Not sure to be honest we didnt measure. I definitely noticed its not as thick as it was before. And theres lots of open holes cuz they arent freezing up. by the afternoon it was getting pretty slushy out there. People are still driving on ( were not).

by Can am 400 on Mar. 2, 2013
I would be mad if my iPod fell in the hole it is not bad fishing where I fish. I could not make it out there today I wish I did because tomorrow going to suck. How thick is the ice?

by Pikster on Feb. 23, 2013
went out today around noon. Walked out with my son from the southeast end. Fishing was slow drilled in 3 different spots making my way towards the middle. Depths varied from 7-20 feet, the thickness was consistantly between 16-18 feet. Lots of cracking kind of spooky cause im new at this. Seems like most trucks were 50-100 feet within shore line. Hope this helps!

by iFish Guest on Feb. 23, 2013
I went there yesterday(Friday). Fishing was slow...only one pike from 11:00am to 3:30pm. The ice was 22 inch good ice.

Spent 5 hrs on the lake. Only 2 bites!wrong spot? No fun. But the weather was good.

by Tomcat Holy on Feb. 14, 2013
Beautiful day to be fishing. Very mild winds, -1 and sunny. The ice was popping all over the place. 22" at every hole we drilled. Tons of active pike. The first area we chose revealed a dead one on the bottom, it's back arched with nose and tail on the lake bed. We decided to move another 50m out and found a great spot near the middle. Many times we saw at least 3 fish on the camera near our bait, tons of action.

by iFish Guest on Feb. 10, 2013
2 jacks thats it today...

by iFish Guest on Feb. 10, 2013

I do a lot of fishin in the summer but never been on the ice, I'd like to get the hang of it from someone who knows ice safety a knows what they're doing. Much appreciated!

by Big r on Nov. 8, 2012
Haven't been out in the past few weeks, you do any ice fishing? I've never been would love to try. Not sure how frozen the lake is wanted to do some shore fishing but don't want to drive out for nothing.

by Fishermans friend on Nov. 8, 2012
Any ice fishing yet?

by Big r on Oct. 19, 2012
Out Again yesterday afternoon/evening, 7 hours one pike 48" used everything from 5 of diamonds to top water frogs, Not a lot of action at all, but still a great day fishing with my dog. Three bald eagles spotted as well, a bonus. Fished about a half km stretch down the middle of the northern bank, as well as the west end of the lake.

by Big R on Oct. 16, 2012
Fished Saturday 2.5 hrs from shore; caught 6 pike (1 legal size) and 2 perch, released them all. Caught pike using 5 of diamonds, crankbait, and wild eye. Caught the perch on a 3" spoon, pretty wild. Fish were hitting harder than usual, nice solid strikes.

by Big R on Sep. 16, 2012
Ive started rating this lake 5 stars because time after time she yields great results. Was out yesterday 3-8pm, 5 smaller pike, 2 legal size, all fished from shore. Released them all back to the waters to get bigger. 5 of diamonds and 5" storm pike, and 4" walleye all used. Also tried jigging from shore, no luck though, I think I need some practice.

by Big R on Sep. 11, 2012
Was out for a couple hours the other night, tried one of those storm wildeye live pike (6") caught a 8+lb first cast, and a smaller 5ish 20 minutes later, also caught 4 smaller ones on yellow and blk 5 of diamond all caught from shore, and released them all. Solid fishing every time but nothing huge so far.

by Wesn on Aug. 6, 2012
Fished from 7pm-10pm avg fishing caught 15 in 3 hrs, 1-65cm the rest under size. Biting on black and white jigs as well as white with red dotted spoon, kids love it here, 4th time out this year and was actually one of the slower evenings.

by Yak on Jul. 30, 2012
Casted off shore and caught 7 pike using red devils. Pretty good fishing but not big enough to take home.

by Big R on Jul. 16, 2012
Fished from shore my spot out in the bush, caught 9, 3 keeper pike. Barqd them up with some chips n butter tasty lunch for me and the boys.

by Big R on Jul. 9, 2012
Right on Brad, I'm going out Saturday 3AM, I'll try and get the dude you farmed.

by Brad K0L on Jul. 8, 2012
Lots of bites at the boat launch. Almost landed a two foot pike too.

by Big R on Jul. 2, 2012
A few mid size (2-6lbs approx.) Nothing big, fished from shore on the north side of the lake.

by Big R on Jul. 1, 2012
Hey Cory there are worse things on public television than me using a choice word to describe the boaters driving 10ft from shore killing my fishing. Anyways, going back out in the morning, starting early 430am I'll report back once again using less offensive language, regarding how it goes. Found a beauty spot out there and can't get enough.

by Cory on Jun. 30, 2012
Hey Big R, would you mind watching your language? This site is accessable to all ages.

by Pre2k on Jun. 17, 2012

by Fishrgrrls on May. 31, 2012
We were at Wizard today and caught 20 in 4 hours, none of them legal size though. Had the best luck trolling with a 5 of diamonds on the north edge.

by Reb98 on May. 28, 2012
Hoping to go next weekend for the first time. Are there places to park on the southside of the lake or do you have to pay & park & hike everywhere?

by Zombiemom on May. 27, 2012
Great day on the lake! 15 catches in 1.5 hours, no keepers but still a great time with the family.

by Trapper on May. 21, 2012

by CGould on May. 15, 2012
How is the shore fishing off this lake?

by Cory on May. 14, 2012
Opening day tomorrow!! Woo Hoo! Gonna spend the better part of the day out here!

by Crash on May. 8, 2012
Your not allowed to fish in this lake until may 15. Anyone fishing here before may 15 is breaking the law. Read the regulations people!

by Hockey guy on May. 7, 2012
Is there fishing allowed now or not until the 20th ? Is the lake open for boats or is there still some ice ?

by Rknrbn on May. 7, 2012
No bites but saw them jumping. Ice all gone and a beautiful day

by Fishn dude on May. 3, 2012
There's good fishing for pike from shore and off docks. Definately worth taking kids.

by Pikster on May. 3, 2012
Is this lake worth taking my son out to? Dont have a boat & wondering if there is a public dock to fish off of on opening day

by Eat my worm on May. 2, 2012
Hey fishermans friend, I wish I could really talk trash on here But unfortunately I can't. U couldn't catch a cold let alone a Fish

by Fishermans friend on May. 2, 2012
Your a slough ya dummy

by Top secret on Apr. 8, 2012
This lake is a slough!!! Drilled a hole before End of season and was dirty brown water

by SuperDave on Apr. 7, 2012
Was just wondering if u can fish off shore at this beautiful lake?

by Cory on Apr. 2, 2012
Just sitting by the shore of the lake watching the ice slowly melt away reflecting on what was a very fun ice fishing season out here! Here's hoping for a successful pike spawn and looking forward to the open water season in May!!

by RikklesFisher on Mar. 26, 2012
Not bad fishing at this lake, managed to outfish my buddies yesterday with 5 pike.

by Stucazzo on Mar. 23, 2012
Was there yesterday, caught 6 pike, in 2 hours. Bout 2ft of ice

by Jst2gd4u on Mar. 10, 2012

by Wes on Feb. 27, 2012
Hey is there any outhouses at wizard?

by canamdon on Feb. 5, 2012
That's how the pike fishing was 20 years ago at Pigeon. Now.... SAD! May have to go out and try it as Pigeon is disgustingly slow last few years. Tired of those skinny walleye that all these "pros" think are the best fish. Is the south end of Wizard the best?

by Fishermans Friend on Feb. 4, 2012
Yeah I always catch pike out there. Just looking to find a different battle. Or a big pike atleast.

by Cory on Feb. 4, 2012
I only fish for pike out there, catch a load of 50-60cm fish every time out!

by Fishermans Friend on Feb. 4, 2012
Anybody catch any walleye? If So where and what bait did you use?

by RapalaRoland on Feb. 3, 2012
Any perch being caught?

by Cory on Jan. 6, 2012
I've fished the west end 2 afternoons this week. First day I caught 7 and another 8 misses, the largest was 61 cm. Today I caught 6 with 11 misses. Nothing big but a great place to take kids to catch some pike through the ice!

by Jst2gd4u on Jan. 2, 2012
Jan 2/12 went to west end of lake fished from 10-2pm. Really slow caught 9 between 6 people. I've about 11 inches

by Jst2gd4u on Dec. 28, 2011
Dec. 27/11 went to jubilee, from 10:00-3:15. Ice thickness was 12 inches. Caught 11 undersized jacks and lost 10, overall not a bad day.

by Fishaholic on Dec. 20, 2011
Has anyone check the ice thickness yet?

by Trapper on Dec. 18, 2011
I had a seasonal site there last summer and left my boat in the water over night several times, the only problem the park staff has is your rope CANNOT be tied across the foot path

by Prv on Dec. 14, 2011
Moses- the lake is quite rocky around the edges and while I have seen people dock their boats overnight, I would personally recommend against it.

by Moses on Aug. 9, 2011
I heard that there are NO spots on the shoreline to leave your boat docked overnight as you camp. They say you have to pull your boat out of the water after every outing! Can anyone confirm this for me? I much prefer a campsite where my boat can stay in the lake! Thank you

by Solle on Jul. 31, 2011
Caught 7 pike off shore around jubilee park. The biggest being 58cm. But all around that range. Green jigs with white heads seemed to be working well. :p Good fishing, and nice lake.

by Fishn kid on Jul. 30, 2011
This lake is full of boaters on hot days in the mid to high twenties but has good fishing.

by S the fisherman on Jul. 30, 2011
There are 3 and possibly 4. 2 at Jubilee park 1 at the west end (north shore) and I'm not sure but maybe one across from Jubilee

by Baudin on Jul. 29, 2011
Is there an actual boat launch???

by S the fisherman on Jul. 29, 2011
Loads of pike from shore and by boat. 10-20lbers present try a Storm Wildeye Live Perch 3-4 inches(expensive). Previous years had small pike and few keepers, but 2011 is something else. If you are local give Wizard a try it should be worth it.

by Prv on Jul. 26, 2011
This is a solid lake for pike or perch. Fished the lake hundreds of times and spent countless hours there and have never seen or heard of a single walleye in this lake. Use a medium sized spoon for pike (any color works but I find anything with yellow is best) or a small jig from shore for perch (they seem to like very small purple jigs the best) and you should have some good luck. Mostly small ones in here but have caught a few nice sized pike from time to time. Anywhere near the concession area at the campground at sun down is a good place for bigger pike from shore and the east end of the lake is recommended if you have a boat. Plus it's shallow and weedy enough that the non fishing boaters avoid it.

by Smoke9699 on Jul. 19, 2011
Caught 19 jacks in 3-4 hrs all under 63, good lake for the kids but not for real fishin.

by Matimuss on Jul. 3, 2011
Lake was to busy to just relax and drop a line no bights maybe on a Sunday afternoon or during the week it would be better

by Blue on Jun. 23, 2011
What kind of fish are they catching?

by minnow man on Jun. 21, 2011
I have gone fishing there probably six times over the past 3 years and i have never been skunked. probably the nicest lake closest to edmonton

by Sosa on May. 26, 2011
Wizard is fishing well ,as usual fish are small but plentiful. Use yellows or greens

by Dogleg on Feb. 20, 2011
Been here all day in a tournament between about 20 people and only 4 pike caught all under 63 cm.

by DAFISH on Feb. 13, 2011
Fished a couple of different spots, nothing in four hours!!!

by Arcticwilly on Dec. 28, 2010
Ice thickness around 12 to 14 inches. Fishing slow but steady, pulled in seven pike all under 63cm.
by Drebert on Feb. 21, 2021
Was here on Saturday by jubilee boat launch, over 2 feet of ice. Lots of people driving on the lake.
