I was there February 23 and caught a 25 inch walleye. I was shocked. But the only fish on the day. I could see quite a few marks on the flasher but not biting.
by Zenfisherman on Feb. 10, 2022
Went there last Saturday. Fishing was slow. Only caught 1 pike on a tipup. Didn't see any fish on the underwater camera. Ice is 12" thick.

Good little lake for perch, biggest was 11 inches in one weekend also caught a 6 pound pike on 4 lb line, good for beginners, lots of perch between 4-12 inches going on Saturday Nov 20th 2021, will give ice updates

by 623065 on May. 17, 2021
Well fished 6 hrs yesterday caught only 3 fish biggest 62 cm poor fishing will not return

by khwest1 on Mar. 10, 2021
Fished all over Burnstick 2 days a week apart. Saw only 2 small pike on the camera. Not a single perch or walleye. The fish have mostly died off due to disease or maybe algae bloom. Don't bother fishing it for 5 years. Too bad - it was good for small perch fun.

by Just jig it on Jan. 27, 2020
If you like keeping 6-7%u201D perch this is the place. The wife and I kept our limit a few years back thinking we would make fish tacos from them, so I sat down filleted all of them and froze them up. About a month later we took them out of the freezer and were getting ready to make some tacos, I opened the bag and pulled out these itsy bitsy fillets!! Lol what a waste of time! This lake has always and will always be home to the baby perch!

by Monsterlander on Jan. 25, 2020
Hahaha.. I didn't intend to come of as being rude .. all I meant is there are very few keeper size perch in this lake that I have experienced . I guess it depends on what is a keeper to people ... but I would say 10%u201Dplus .i have got some keepers out of here years ago but not many ..lost the perch here are smaller and after going there in the summer a few years back all the fishing preassure can't help. As to where else to go for perch I would just go to Saskatchewan...

by MrShark on Jan. 24, 2020
Chill, people. He's saying perch aren't there or are hard to find. Nothing wrong with a little humor. No need to be insulted.

by Maraxus on Jan. 24, 2020
Yeah Monsterlander, why did you even bother replying? We are here to help others. Such an upstanding person with such a thoughtful and kind answer. Probably some 12 year old judging on that comment.

by Kalvin on Nov. 10, 2019
Just wondering if anyone has checked out to see if the lake has Frozen over yet and if so how thick the ice is. Thank you.

by MrShark on Oct. 10, 2019
Thanks, Zebra. It's much appreciated. I'll let you know when I reel in Moby at that spot.

by Zebra Muscle on Oct. 9, 2019
Mostly a boat lake but there are two spots that I'm aware of that are shore fishable. At the public beach / boat launch (not great...very shallow) and the north shore just east of the village boat launch. I'd go with #2. Drive to the village boat launch, park, and walk east through the trees until you reach the grassy clearing/knoll along the north shoreline. The water depth drops quickly there so with some long casts you'll be working 10-12' of water. I've has decent luck boat fishing that same area (pike on spoons).

by MrShark on Oct. 2, 2019
Anyone know how the shore fishing is at Burnstick -- meaning, is it walkable along the shore, or is it strictly a boat-fishing lake?

by Zebra Muscle on Aug. 19, 2019
Not sure what's going on this summer, but compared to the last few summers the pike fishing here is really sucking. Fishing the same areas (plus a few new ones) and not getting nearly the action. Trying all sorts of different lures presentations and none of them seem to be noticeably better than the others. Talked with other boaters and it seems everyone has noticed the same thing. Picked off a few walleye trolling though.

Around 2 feet of ice, half a foot of snow on top. Was out yesterday for 4 hours, no fish. Didnt look like anyone around us had any luck either.

by fishing in canada on Mar. 16, 2019
Mski, I honestly can’t remember got through without the auger extension just barely but there was a few trucks driving out so definitely safe, ramp down was icy even to walk it, there was a fair bit of snow on top to don’t know how much is left with the hot weather hope that helps

by PaulT on Jan. 29, 2019
17 inch of ice, tons of perch 6 inch or so, didn't see any pike or walleye yet

by ScottW on Jan. 15, 2019
As usual lots of small perch. Was out last Sunday. The boat launch down was pretty icy, good thing that heave at that the bottom wasn't bigger!! Lol. Just a heads up. Truck basically slid all the way down, took a couple times to get back up. Noticed a few leave shacks on the ice. I would like to do that. Any opinions on vandalism in this area. I think for the most part people are pretty good. Just thought about putting a small shack out real basic. Anyone else experience the slide down and trying to go up?
by White master on Jan. 15, 2019
Maraxis. Its been ok. Nothing of any size but it is starting to pick up for perch and pike. Not sure on the Walleye havent seen anything yet. You can drive on the ice now 14 inches of ice.

by “The Falcon†on Jan. 27, 2018
Can you drive out onto the ice right now?
by ScottW on Jan. 21, 2018
Tried out the new camera today. Lots of fun. Tons of 3-9 inch perch that I would’ve never caught without it. Don’t care about the size pretty fun. Saw a pike rush through the school of perch which was pretty cool. The people that left all their garbage behind in front of the boat launch was not cool.(grow up!) I know I don’t have to explain or rant , It’s kind of useless but maybe the kids will enjoy fishing for Fish instead of beer cans or pop cans. Maybe it was walleye white master that rushed through ha ha

Venport. It depends on how thick you are comfortable with being on the ice. It was 4-5 inches thick a week ago but with the warm weather I don't know how the ice would be now. Test before you go out too far.

by Venport on Nov. 20, 2017

Arrived at 9am and from 9 to about 10:30am the action was steady for perch. Spent all day and in total landed 30 plus perch. Buddy of mine had a pike on but it snapped his line before he could land it seemed like it was a decent size. Ice conditions are good, some deeper snow on the south side of lake resulting in a couple of trucks getting stuck. Ice is about 15 to 18 inches thick.

by cdeditch on Jan. 28, 2017
How's the pike fishing?

by White master on Jan. 28, 2017
12"-16" just about everywhere on the lake. Driven around the whole lake with no issues. Small red wite worm worked the best.

Holden. What were you using and how deep for the perch? Any help is appreciated. We will be camping in the area and taking a group of kids fishing and it would be great if we could get them into some decent perch fishing as some of the kids are pretty young and perch would be a lot easier for them to fish for.

Not too shabby of day yesterday. Caught 14 perch between the 2 of us in 3.5 hours. Mostly caught straight out from boat launch at the summer village side. And remember, if the woman don't find you handy then they should least find you handsome.

by JReed on Jan. 26, 2016
Man there's perch anywhere on this lake and they eat anything that fits in their mouth. No need for perch hotspots

by White master on Jan. 26, 2016
If your fishing for perch try a small brass with a red head wire worm with maggots. If you get a perch with the bladder out take your hook and lightly poke it. I know it sounds creul but they will swim away. All the trips out we have found the bigger ones are in the middle or the West side. Goodluck to all.
by Badger87 on Jan. 24, 2016
Thats all you caught? Must be your location:/

by baroni2486@gmail.com on Jan. 24, 2016
Once we figured out how to catch the perch, we caught 9 in about 2 hours. Very very gentle bites, using maggots about 1 to 2 inches off the bottom. All the ones we caught had their swim bladders bloated, anyone know how to help the fish if this happens? Pike were no where to be seen, we had two rods out between us, one on smelt and the other on minnow! No joy at sign.

Been out three times in the past month and pike fishing is lousy compared to last summer. Lots of locals saying the same thing. Water level seems low too. Never seen the minnows so thick in any lake before.

by Snikrz on Jul. 19, 2015
4 walleye in an hour between village and campground. 10 ft on the edge of the weeds, one three lbs other 2 and change,
by Wookie in waders on Jun. 24, 2015
Nothing but big walleye here. Trawled up and down the channel between the weed beds. watch out for other boats. Use bottom bouncer

Went fishing for Pike on June 20, 2015 and caught all walleye from 2 - 6 lbs in a 3 hour period. Can't keep them but man was it fun bringing in those 6 pounders. I will add a hotspot soon for trolling. Side note: the walleye ban is doing great for their population and regeneration of the species in this lake!

by vandamme on Jun. 14, 2015
Caught one small pike 3-4 pounds in 8 feet of water. Only a couple of boats and didnt seem like anyone else was having any better luck.

Ice Report: 14 in
16 to 14 inches

by Fisherman02 on Jan. 30, 2015
Went for a couple hours. Didn't see any fish at all. Ice was 16 to 14 inches 80 yards from shore. Saw another group out about 125 yards out with 3 half ton trucks and a car fairly close together. Also saw a couple sleds and a few other trucks but no signs of anyone finding them fish today. The water was very clear with lots of water bugs cruzing around so maybe they were full today? With that said it still beats work.

Tons of small perch going crazy for maggots. Nothing worth keeping but great fun for the kids

by Jball111 on Jan. 11, 2015
Was out from 10:30 to 3:30 only had a few bites but nothing caught. Wasn't planning on going to burnstick so didn't have much for bait. Any suggestions for baits and depths to fish? Thanks in advance

Would it be safe to pull out a 17 ft camping trailer made into a ice fishing hut with a half ton truck onto the ice? Thoughts?

by Fishholic on Jan. 4, 2015
Great little lake for Perch Ice Fishing and occasional Pike. I was there 4th time on 4th January at -42 windchill. Caught 40+ perch. 95% was 5-6 inches and I got few 10 inch perch. Also caught 23 inch pike. Ice was 16-17+ so I was driving my full size truck on my spots. Due to quite a bit of snow fall, It was hard to pull my sled for over a mile.

by Waldo78 on Jan. 2, 2015
Was out on jan 1. Beautiful day. Ice is 12-14" thick. Tried for perch. Didn't snag any. Any tips on what bait is best? Thx.

by vandamme on Sep. 21, 2014
Spent the day on the lake trying all the usual spots and lures and nothing was bitting. Wasnt until 3pm as I was watching a few other people landing fish that i moved into 4 feet of water into the lily pads and switched to a small spoon that I finally caught a nice 69 cm pike. Beautiful day on the lake hardly a breath of wind and cant complain about the 20+ temps.

by Zebra Muscle on Sep. 20, 2014
Pike fishing is really good this time of year. 7 in two hours plus lots of curious followers. Not bad for mid-day fishing. Mepps Cyclops was the lure of choice. Cast along the lily pad clusters in 6-8' deep water near the shorelines for best results.

by ibakhmoutski on Jul. 7, 2014
Lots of smaller perch by the north-east shore. Big pike broke my friend's fishing rod in the same place.

by vinnie on Jun. 24, 2014
yes about 4.5-5lbs lol. Lot's of fun to catch. I heard of 10 lb walleye and pike, but rare.
by binnzer32 on Jun. 21, 2014
I am sorry but a 23 inch walleye is no where near 7. 5lbs . It would be 4. 5-5lbs

by vinnie on Jun. 21, 2014
The biggest walleye I ever caught from here was ice fishing 5 winters ago in about 8 feet of water around march. Half a mile from the shoreline close to the other camp ground side of lake. Walleye was 23 inches and 7 1/2 pounds. Through the summers I catch lot's of perch off shore. Casting far out into weed beds and bringing maggots and worms on jigs back slowly in 4- 5 feet of water. Many nice sized perch results. Allowed to keep 5 no size limit, 1 pike over 24 inches and 0 walleye. Might even be the odd brown trout around the lake.

by vinnie on Jun. 21, 2014
fishing in a 14 ft boat floater. Casting out and bringing back slowly twitching the rod to imitate bait. Fishing this lake for almost 10 years now and have nearly caught 80 fish. Fun lake, exciting, suprising results for nice sized and numerous catches of pike, walleye, and perch.

by vinnie on Jun. 21, 2014
seen many schools of perch around the docks. Last summer caught a couple of 2 Lb walleye and 8 in perch about 2 km from the dam. They were in about 8 ft of water close to the lilly pads by shoreline. Best success I have is with a small jig tipped with real bait or imitations.

by vinnie on Jun. 21, 2014
caught a couple pike in a few hours fishing off the main dock.

by vandamme on Jun. 1, 2014
Fished burnstick, was slow for most of the day, had to leave the lake for about an hour due to a storm that blew in. Caught and released 3 pike averaging about 3 pounds each, lots of fish on the fish finder but not much biting.

by Double D on Dec. 9, 2012
10-11in ice. Were a couple vehicles on the lake. Cutting it a little close in my opinion. Was also not impressed with lots of garbage and empty beer cans left on the ice. Oh, just a note, car surfing holding on to the roof racks while doing donuts in the middle of the lake isn't the smartest thing to do. Lots of small perch on the camera. Biggest 8 in. Few skittish pike. Got a 1 lb walleye. All still swimming.
