by Bucksman on May. 15, 2015
I'm not gonna call you a fool but if your gonna tell someone else about the regs, at least have your own sh** in order, between you and your buddies you read may 15...

by Lakechaser on May. 12, 2015
Thanks Bucksman, rumor has it I'm just a fool! LOL
by simplebeefarmer on May. 12, 2015
Ha what a fool

by Bucksman on May. 11, 2015
Well that one isn't open until June 16 if i read right, and is located in ES2, this one is located in ES4 and is open all year and located by ridgevalley, if you click on view map/directions it shows you on the map as well the app says this one is in ES4 when you clicked on it, and the top of your screen it tells you when the lake is open and this one says April 1-March 31....simple mistake, cheers

by Lakechaser on May. 11, 2015
West of Caroline.

by Bucksman on May. 10, 2015
Lake chaser, what swan are you talking about?

by Lakechaser on May. 10, 2015
Hey Bucksman, you were the only one fishing because Swan Lake is closed for fishing until May 15th. We were going to go there today too, took a second look at the regulations only to discover this also.

by Bucksman on May. 7, 2015
Fished off shore the other day, windy as it gets, tough to tell when they were biting, caught 2 small ones and a 3lbish, water was muddy do to all the wind, was the only person dumb enough to be out there

by BP on Apr. 15, 2015
Lots of ice on swan still?

by Bucksman on Feb. 25, 2015
Why wouldn't you need a fishing license?

by dollyv on Feb. 24, 2015
Do you need a fishing license to fish on this lake?

by GP-Don78 on Feb. 18, 2015
I'm going this Sunday and I'll report back on ice and catch.

by GP-Don78 on Feb. 18, 2015
I fished last 2 Sunday's in January anf none of us even had a bite in 10 hrs of fishing. Any tips for this lake in regards to best location on ice
by Bucksman on Feb. 10, 2015
This is the swan lake in es4 not es2.....

by Bucksman on Feb. 10, 2015
Closed? Where do you read that at? It's not in the regulations or in this app...open all year

by Fisherman02 on Feb. 4, 2015
The lake is closed January 16?until just before May long weekend 2015. This would be why you catch fish. Now is it worth the price?

by Thehammer on Feb. 4, 2015
Not sure why. Going out in a week. Will report how I do then. Had good luck last couple years in winter. Dozen every time.

by Colleen on Feb. 4, 2015
How come no reports on this lake.is it not worth going to now????

by StringFlinger on Sep. 2, 2014
I think your numbers might be a bit skewed...90%? No. I agree there is some mortality, but education, proper handling, single barbless, BAITLESS hooks, fly fishing, massively increase the chances of survival. There is a beautiful province to our West that has been practicing C&R for decades, to great success. There are a handful of Trophy trout lakes in Manitoba, that are just that b/c of C&R...google FLIPPR. Muir Lake is a great example of success. Swan was once a Mecca for huge Rainbows, 10-12lbs were not uncommon, but over harvesting, limited regs, zero policing, and algae have guaranteed its demise...it is truly sad! We first need to solve the algae problem, then introduce strict C&R regs that are enforced, then and only then will Swan return to it's former glory.

by JANGLES69 on Aug. 17, 2014
Was out Saturday. Lots of dead fish all around the shoe line. No luck for me fishing.

by Ross Haynes on Aug. 7, 2014
Yes catch and release 90% of all rainbow die after being released. Talk to your game warden or bio man. Stocked lakes are there for people to use . If you want big fish you have to close the lake to fishing or use no hooks , that way you well not kill any of the fish you release.

by JuniorPoirier on Jun. 19, 2014
Yup?

by trebre on Jun. 18, 2014
Hey JuniorPoirier

by JuniorPoirier on Jun. 17, 2014
Well I take it back. Solid day on the lake today. 15-18 inches all day long...white spinners and perch floating rapallas

by JuniorPoirier on Jun. 15, 2014
Not a rise or a bite all day, in a tube and off shore. Smart idea putting in aluminum docks that make more noise on the lake than anything. Not impressed where this lake has gone

by Tweedsider on Jun. 9, 2014
Couldn't agree with you more!

by iFish Guest on May. 30, 2014
The absolute potential this lake has is unreal! I really wish they would put trophy regs into effect! It's really unfortunate everybody feels the need to keep there limit every outting. Half the fish aren't even edible because of the bacteria! It's really sickening pulling up to the launch and seeing guys keeping 5 fish each, 3 of which are 9" (this years stock) and 2 13" fish. When if they let em go they would be 6lb fish in 2 years. Just grinds my gears to see how much this great lake has slid over the last 4 years! Would be nice to get those 8-12 pounders back in there. Just need people to stop keeping 5 fish every time.

by GlennG_01-05 on May. 10, 2014
Well launch was open yesturday, watched two different people catch fish but it's slow going. We tryed everything trolling yesturday nothing biting.

by Ifishforfun on May. 3, 2014
Boat launch isn't open yet, but there is enough open water for a pontoon boat or canoe
by iFish Guest on Apr. 24, 2014
Ice off lake yet to shore fish?

by Ifishforfun on Mar. 22, 2014
Ice is good again, solid all the way

by Brandonn on Mar. 20, 2014
How is the ice after the warm weather

by Kokaneeranger on Jan. 20, 2014
Nice goin Jared.

by Jared19 on Jan. 19, 2014
Was out Saturday Jan 18. Ice was about 8" thick 25' from aeration. Had a few tugs in about 2 hours. Landed a 16" on green garlic marshmallows.
by iFish Guest on Jan. 18, 2014
Ice Report: 14 in
Ice is pretty thin and not very strong. One truck fell through a week back. Be smart and park on land.

by Ifishforfun on Jan. 12, 2014
Fishing was slow , but a beautiful day ,lots of people out,had a few bites but couldn't capitalize, maybe next time. ice is still not thick enough to drive on, one truck proved this.

by Ifishforfun on Jan. 10, 2014
Ice seems to be hardening up a bit, still not safe to drive on

by iFish Guest on Jan. 8, 2014
Thanks for the reports guys .
by LennyW on Jan. 7, 2014
Ice Report: 12 in
Out from the "campsite" area very slushy, about 6-8 inches of flood water/slush, DO NOT DRIVE ON LAKE!
by iFish Guest on Jan. 6, 2014
Ice Report: 8 in
There is about 8 inches of slushy flood water on top of 6 inches of crappy ice especially near shore, NO QUADS OR TRUCKS!!!
by Wendtskie on Jan. 4, 2014
Ice Report: 10 in
Ice is pretty thin in spots especially close to the aeration.

by Iceman. on Jan. 2, 2014
Any word on the access and ice conditions here???

by iFish Guest on Dec. 13, 2013
does anyone know how good the ice is?

by KillerOnIce on Dec. 5, 2013
How's the ice out there ?

by iFish Guest on Nov. 29, 2013
Any word on the ice conditions?? I imagine all the snow and warm weather didn't help things out at all.

by iFish Guest on Aug. 16, 2013
lots of dead fish along the banks.hundreds now.clear water tho.thanks for the comment here about dead fish was wondering

by woodscamper on Aug. 15, 2013
A small summer kill occurred first/ second week of August due to algae bloom arising from hot temps. Heard reports that bloom is over and fishing picking up again. Nice sized trout!

by Cbishop on Aug. 15, 2013
Was at Swan last Sat and in a 25 yard both sides of the boat launch I counted over 100 dead trout! Not sure what happened!

by GCMB on Jul. 1, 2013
Want to take my kids out to swan lake for trout fishing in late July. Never been there, how is the fishing?

by iFish Guest on May. 4, 2013
I went out today fly fishing and caught 25 between 2 - 5lbs. Awesome day on the water. First time at swan lake and I'll be making this trip again. Do people actually eat these fish? I put all my fish back to swim another day.

by Bigjay on May. 3, 2013
At the lake today, no ice at all. 5 boats out on the water and they never caught a thing. 7 people fishing from shore a only 1 caught. Pretty sad to see there finally putting in a GOOD boat launch when the fishing has gone to crap. Everything from flies to marshmellows to spinners and nobodys even getting a bite.

by Kevin johnson on Apr. 30, 2013
Hello fellow fisherman, was thinking of heading out to swan this wknd and was wondering if the ice is off enough to fish from shore? And yes people need to have respect and take there garbage home with them! I usually take an extra garbage bag and fill it while i wait for fish to take my lure... Mmm fishing

by iFish Guest on Apr. 17, 2013
No open water yet about 4 inches of ice. Shouldn't be to long now.

by iFish Guest on Apr. 17, 2013
Been out last weekend april 14th.say good bye to ice fishing.someone had a boat out.open from aeroator area to right before beaver damn.good fishing with marshmallow from boat launch area.

by iFish Guest on Apr. 17, 2013
Has anyone been to the lake this spring that can comment on how much ice Is left?

by iFish Guest on Mar. 2, 2013
Ive never fished there. What kind of hooks/bait works best??

by Kokaneeranger on Feb. 28, 2013
Thinking about heading to swan this weekend. How's the ice? Is driving a pickup out there safe. How are the trout biting. Has it been a good winter. May hit swan as well. Any advice would be appreciated

by Jack fish on Jan. 23, 2013
Was out on the 5th of January as well. Our group (3) caught at least a dozen contrary to other statements posted here. Garbage is an issue I agree

by Northernflyfisherman on Jan. 5, 2013
Was out for 4 hours all over lake! Only two bites and not a whole lot of action for anyone else! Perhaps the pollution and everyone keeping there limits has something to do with this! Way to much garbage on the lake and surrounding area come on guys lets clean up after ourselves.. Last time I was there everyone kept there limits! Keep one for supper and toss the rest back lets make this lake what it used to be! With the nice 7-10 lb rainbows everywhere!

by Codey on Dec. 12, 2012
Spent the night on lake, caught 4, Ice 6-8 inches

by Jimmy on Dec. 10, 2012
2" ice then 3" slush and then 6" of ice. Caught and released 4 fish.

by Northern alberta angler on Dec. 5, 2012
I heard the ice was cracking due to the snow and topwater was forming. Went out this week and sure enough. 6 inches of water and seemed to get deeper the further i went out.

by Slp on Dec. 2, 2012
Was out there on the 2nd ice was 6 inches. Caught around 20

by Ryan 09 on Nov. 22, 2012
Anyone know how the ice is at swan?

by hummingbirdisfree on Oct. 9, 2012
i wish everyone would pick up their garbage and stop throwing in the woods. thanks so much to the gp fly fishing association for their help. or even pick up what you see and put it in the garbage. we got a bag full last weekend. this is going to ruin the lake. what is wrong with catching and releasing? do it all year. never keep one and catch lots. lets help out this lake stay clean and full of fish

by Reed 55 on Jun. 27, 2012
Sorry i don't want everyone keeping their limit

by Reed 55 on Jun. 27, 2012
What is your problem people? I just do want every person keeping their limit when this lake is being fished out.

by Cajed1 on Jun. 26, 2012
Cody if you look up the #'s Alberta is nearing 300 thousand legal anglers, not to mention the natives and poachers. Your crying cause you need trophy regs to catch big fish, would you like me to teach you how to fish? Because I catch & release them weekly at lakes without trophy regs.

by Top 10 on Jun. 26, 2012
I agree with you Cody. Make trophy regulations then the lake will last for generations to come.

by Cody on Jun. 26, 2012
Cajed1 several hundered thousand anglers?? Wtf?? This isn't bc! And your just upset because if there were trophy regs you wouldn't catch a fish big enough to keep!! Stop cryin the truth hurts!! Bring on the trophy regulations!!

by Northernflyfisherman on Jun. 26, 2012
Trophy regs should have been in place years ago!! And should be in place forsure next year this lake is way to over fished and finding big trout is becoming harder and harder because of idiots who keep 5 8-10 inch fish that don't even taste good! I mean I woul rather them keep the small one then the big one but use you head and think do you really need 5? Basically bring on the trophy lake status!!

by Cajed1 on Jun. 26, 2012
Quit your crying. Several hundred thousand anglers & only a few thousand natural fish producing lakes.

by Fishing 101 on Jun. 26, 2012
I also wish to have back the trophy rainbow trouts back in this lake. I will start to tell people that this lake is being over fished to try and bring back the huge rainbows that we like to catch.

by "D" Man on Jun. 25, 2012
Yes this lake is going down hill. If you want this lake to last for generations to come catch and release.

by RJ on Jun. 25, 2012
Was out on Wednesday and we caught 18 in 4 hours. Nothing big though! This lake is getting cleaned out, used to catch lots of fish 5-10 lbs here. Everybody wants to keep their limit. These rainbows are muddy and lack flavor in my opinion. I never keep any anymore. Bring on the trophy regs!!!

by Reed 55 on Jun. 25, 2012
Lake is being over fished

by Northernflyfisherman on Jun. 13, 2012
Has been really good fishing i have been out about 8 times over the last 2 weeks and 20-40 fish every time. only fishing for 2-4 hours every time. The algae is just starting in the lake so another couple of weeks left to fish before it gets bad!

by hummingbird on May. 28, 2012
had a great time. tons of fishing if fly fishing-catching 25-40 within couple of hours. trolling pretty good with mepps.thanks to alberta fly fishing for cleaning up the area.effort always needed from people to keep it clean. we did our part too.. keep up the hard work thanks Michelle
by Dooleyd20 on May. 18, 2012
Awesome action 3-4 pounders limit out every time 5 of diamonds 1 inch long
View on Map

by Cage on May. 13, 2012
I would also like to see big fines for people that leave there garbage behind! Seriously people clean up your garbage and leave with more than you came with. Lets take care of this wonderful lake

by Cage on May. 13, 2012
I would also support trophy regs, fished there saturday may 12 and caught 17 fish between the gf and i. What a great day, also met a father and his sons that came all the way from turner valley 7 hours away just to fish our little pond. Love that lake

by Northernflyfsherman on May. 12, 2012
Trophy regs would be great!!

by Devo on May. 10, 2012
I would support trophy regs for Swan! Boo yeah!

by Jensen on May. 8, 2012
This lake is getting lots of pressure in the last few years, and it is now being reviewed to see if it would make sense to turn Swan into a trophy lake. With catch and size limits, I am strongly for this, I've fished this lake for 20 years and only seen the average size drop LOTS.

by hummingbirdisfree on May. 8, 2012
out this weekend 6th of may fishing pretty good used lures-mepps yellow and black they were after. muddy water

by Northernflyfisherman on May. 3, 2012
Out for 3 hours not a bite nt one person on the lake had a caught a fish for the last two days!!

by hummingbird on Apr. 22, 2012
up the weekend of the april 13th. water is free at the boat launch to the aireators. fishing was great son got 2 pd and 5 pd in twently mins

by Devo on Apr. 22, 2012
So can anyone confirm if the ice is off or not! It's to far to travel and risk it!

by NorthernflyfishermanJohny on Apr. 14, 2012
Valleyview however it's snowing a freezing here so idk what it will be like now

by Kyle on Apr. 12, 2012
Which Swan lake has open water the one west of caroline or up north by valley view ?

by Northernflyfisherman on Apr. 10, 2012
Thanks a lot you can bet I will be out this weekend

by Kenler on Apr. 9, 2012
There were a couple of boats and belly boats in the open water by the launch this weekend. And I even saw a guy get a little too close to the open water and he broke through the ice and had a little swim !!

by Kenler on Apr. 9, 2012
Just there this weekend fishing was great !! Lucky if ice is there next weekend only 6 to 12" of ice but there was one idiot with his truck on the ice !!

by Northernflyfisherman on Apr. 8, 2012
JohnyD you can almost always fish from shore right by the boat dock pull up some ok sized fish! However I don't know when the ice will be kinda wondering that myself hopefully very soon! But it might be worth a try fishing from shore right by the launch

by JohnnyD on Apr. 6, 2012
Are there any spots on this lake where you can easily fish from shore and hook some good ones, a nice decent size? Anyone have a good idea when the ice will come off? Maybe another couple weeks with the warm weather we're having? I don't wanna make the drive out to find no shore fishing spots or still ice covered. Thanks for the help.

by Northernflyfisherman on Apr. 6, 2012
Anybody know what the ice is like?

by Kenler on Feb. 23, 2012
Amazing !! 4 five to eight pounders in 2hours!!

by Northernflyfisherman on Feb. 10, 2012
I was fishing from 8am to about noon. My buddy said it wasn't any good in the afternoon!

by DickFishing on Feb. 9, 2012
Northern- what time of day were you fishing?
by Northflyfisherman on Feb. 9, 2012

by Brown_fisherman on Jan. 26, 2012
Fishing was extremely slow last 3 times I've been here. I think it slows down later in the ice fishing season. 1 fish caught between 5 people. Tried everything. Seen them on the camera, just wouldn't bite.

by Rippinitup on Jan. 21, 2012
No bait allowed

by Rippin it up on Jan. 21, 2012

by Jared on Mar. 23, 2011

by Stevo on Mar. 19, 2011
