Many perch being caught at goose ? And if so are they a decent size ?
by Jtdog on Jan. 15, 2017
Ice is good this year. You can drive anywhere on the lake. Lots of nipples. Pike aren't really taking the bait though. Lots of shrimp in the lake for them to eat.

by Lip smasher on Jan. 30, 2014
6-8 inch perch isn't decent... Fished there lots this year but nothing any bigger... I'm pretty sure there was a partial winter kill there this past year
by Liv2fish on Jan. 29, 2014
It's a tough lake for bigger perch. They are around but u gotta find them. Sometimes it's the boat launch. Sometime the swimming area and other time straight across north side cove on the left or the one on the right. Good luck.

Formation of Blue/green algea washing to shoreline. I don't advise consuming fish caught.
by iFish Guest on Aug. 14, 2013
I just came back from Garner lake and noticed that perch are limited to 5 daily due to "over fished" mature perch. Many of the locals around the region tell me the balance of species is getting out of control. I am told Walleye are basically taking over by consuming the perch population in the surrounding area including Long Lake and Amisk. Nature has always had a way to sustain populations within a body of water. I agree with the last posting that commercial fishing or harvesting a species by fish and wildlife only to repopulate another lake only leads to another imbalance. I want my kids to have the opportunity we enjoy today but am not sure this govt really cares. I dont know the solution to this but the idea of restricting sizes of keepers is a start. This applies to all species. Perhaps appointing committees made up of local residents of a lake to monitor and observe changes is a way to go without costing the govt a lot of money.

Rotting in the net I mean*
Due to this lake not holding any walleye im aware this comment may be unnecessary i just wanted to post it anyway so here it is. I honestly think that they should outlaw the netting of thousands of walleye a year. Its not fair to anyone trying to fish or repopulate a lake and its really quite a shame because you see alot of the netters and they throw away a LOT of perfectly good sized fish because they died and started rotting the net after being trapped for days on end.

@pikester I agree... However the perch are still there, just have to know where to find them. They always move in the summer and come back in the winter. The pike populations are increasing aswell.

To the last guest, I am not surprised to hear this. It seems that the moment this province has an abundance of good sized fish at a lake everyone seems to migrate over and overfish it. Limiting everyone to 5 perch would be a good option however we know this wont happen until it's too late. What a shame. Look what happened to Walleye populations. They may be up again in some areas but give everyone the chance to keep them and you'll end up with the same problem of over fishing. This is my opinion and it is not my intent to offend responsible fisherman/women. many entries I review talk about the good old days when there was an abundance of all species. We have to take some responsibility in this and do our part.

Perch are gone . Was fished pretty hard last year . Few and far between not worth the drive
by iFish Guest on May. 19, 2013
beautiful windless morning on Saturday. Shore fishing from dock produced 4 medium sized pike. Perch are not biting or relocated away from dock. Water levels appear to be about the same. hope this year brings a lot of good fishing weather. Stay safe in the water and on the highways everyone!

You can drive down the boat launch and right on to the lake. We were there 2 weeks ago and there was 2.5 feet of ice still. Not sure about now but have had freezing temps since. Caught lots of pike 1 perch.
Is the lake accessible by truck? I would like to give it a shot this weekend
