Spent weekend at the lake and caught a few pike. Overflow is easily 6" deep under the snow north west of the northern island tip. Watch out for old holes. Overflow and snow are keeping them open and large. Only getting bites on small jig heads with frozen minnows.

by Plumbers on Feb. 10, 2020

Just wanted to add there is 4" of overflow on the ice

Went out Feb 9. Ice is 16" thick. Fishing is slow. Be careful if running on North side of island. There is some open ice spots that you may not see till you are to close.

Feb.2,2020. Found a nice shallow spot. Caught a 12 inch just over a pound Perch. My buddy caught two 21"

by Plumbers on Jan. 3, 2020

Maybe 8 inches of black ice with 3 inches of white on top. Very surprised to see trucks on the ice but that is their choice. I wouldn't. No bites today but only fished for hour and a half.

Loads of small pike fishing off the Pier. Seen more pike this year than any other year. Had five follow in the same hook. Hope this does not mean the perch fishing will be terrible.

Flood water everywhere over the top of your boots when you break through the snow brutal . 5" of ice and it's sketchy

Have a cabin on the lake and have been fishing it practically year round for 15 years. Though I never keep anything,in this time I have only caught 2 legal pike and a good number of large perch. This lake cannot sustain the fishing pressure it has experienced nor the boat traffic that occurs during the summer weekends. The top 6 feet water is constantly stirred up from boat traffic, never giving the eco-system time to "chill". In my opinion Long Island should instate a ZERO keep limit for several years as well limit the number of boats allowed on the lake at any one time.

by Fisher 5 on Feb. 26, 2017

Fins and gills I'm not going to totally agree with your comment it is actually healthier for the lake to keep those 8" perch as there is an over abundance of smaller fish compared to fish that are 11-14" which are are main breeders , it takes the bigger fish 7-8 yrs to get that big where as a 8-9" perch only takes a couple of yrs to get that big . So personally I would like to see more people take those home than the big breeders. I am am loca as well and I don't like the pressure I'm seeing either, I have talked to people from all over the province on that lake this yr it's insane how far they come from .

I agree with fisher 5....im a local to this lake and the pressure has been the most I've seen in 40 years that I've fished this lake. there are no more legal size pike in the lake and the perch are getting fished out. I've seen ppl keeping buckets of 8 inch perch...in doing that it will be a statistic in no time.

Got out 7:30am till 2:00 didn't even see a pike did the lake have a winter kill

by Fisher 5 on Feb. 13, 2017

Long island has been completely pounded out due to cross lake being closed this little lake can't support the amount of pressure it has seen this yr . It has been so slow due to the pressure the fish have soar mouths and refuse to bite the hook anymore . In my opinion stay away before it becomes another statistic. It is off my list been there 3 xs and not a fish .
