wow..i am still in shock over Hasse lake...years ago it was one of the best trout fishing lakes around..producing big rainbows ...but then it went belly up....hope that one day this lake can be brought back to life ..
by PhilR on Mar. 5, 2016
The St Albert Fish and Game Assoc.had an ACA biologist speak at our Dec 2015 meeting. He is doing a project on Hasse Lake and reported the lake was completely without game fish. It winter and summer killed recently. The project is looking at what can be done to restore the lake. Much improvement has been made on protecting the riparian areas around the lake from livestock.

by craigar68 on Feb. 20, 2016

by BiggieB on Feb. 5, 2016
Ok, just so you know the lake is no longer stocked with anything by the esrd and they Rotenoned it back in 2012-2013, there are only stickle back minnows and seagulls....sad but true
by Countryboy_299 on Feb. 4, 2016

REST IN PEACE HASSE LAKE you were once a great trout fishing lake .
by QC on Jun. 22, 2015
That lake is dead, you aren't supposed to touch that water, warning signs everywhere. They probably won't stock it anymore due to the birds and the introduction of pike.

Was this restocked??
by C&R for our future children on May. 11, 2015
Stopped by yesterday, lots of minnows, lots of birds, but did not catch anything off the dock, and did not see anything in the fish bins.
by tymab on May. 2, 2015
Is there still trout and perch out there or just perch??
by Shawnthetrainman on Apr. 18, 2015

Ice Report: 20 in
by Caisa_Runes on Aug. 28, 2014
The lake is dead guys. Too many pelicans, seagulls, and Geeae, these two bigger birds need to be relocated. The beach is full of poop, and Mother Nature is reclaiming it with full of grass all over. What a sad thing to see. :-(
by Sevo43 on Aug. 4, 2014
K people this is the actual truth from people studying the lake for years
by Shawnthetrainman on Jun. 29, 2014
My buddy caught a 19 pound jack in this lake last weekend
by Sauger on Jun. 14, 2014
Went out on Wednesday you might as well forget about good fishing here with all the pelicans that nest on the island. Very sad from what the lake used to be to what it is now..
by zoocosm on Jun. 8, 2014
The central island is full of birds, including geese and Pelican. The boat launches are hot in full sun (black floating plastic) and the shore mud is "fragrant". A nice lake to canoe with lots of reeds around the perimeter. Didn't catch any fish but it was good day on the water.
by Fburton on Feb. 1, 2014
Ice Report: 16 inIce was 16 inches thick about 100 meters off shore at the vehicle entrance to the lake
by WesChurch on Jan. 9, 2014
The lake had winter kill last year
by iFish Guest on Dec. 8, 2013
How sad!!!! We tried ice fishing - before having done any research about the lake - not a single bite. In winter the lake is as beautiful as ever. What a shame to hear it is near to dead for trout now.... note though... we didn't get a bite from the pike or perch either.
by iFish Guest on Sep. 6, 2013
Just at Hasse yesterday, Seagulls are gone. Lake is a mess, give it a couple years it will heal. Those Seagulls should have been dealt with years ago, ruined the whole experience! But seeing it all quiet there, peaceful again, I imagine it will bounce back.
I don't know what to rate it, it's normally a Steller 5, but for now it's a 1
by iFish Guest on Aug. 22, 2013
Just visited couple of days ago. Stayed for about half hour the fishing dock was practically white with all the bird poop. Water was so merky. So sad the lake is in such a bad way used to catch lot of perch here.
by dwright on Aug. 13, 2013
Just visited yesterday only. Stayed for about twenty min the fishing dock was practically white with all the bird poop, and there was a dead duck close to shore by dock. Water was so merky you might of had 3" of visibility. So sad the lake is in such a bad way used to love visiting. As an asside AHS has lifted the alge warning but no chance I would swim in that lake much less fish it. Hope things can recover. Don
by iFish Guest on Aug. 1, 2013
just saw on the news that alberta health has issued a blue algae warning, warning indicated no contact with the water, I am sure this will be on the provincial website by now .... cheers .... doyle
by Isaac Haines on Jul. 31, 2013

I'm saddened by this comments this was an excellent TROUT lake ...
I'm back from B.C. and Alberta seems to have died since I been away...
I think $$$$$$ took everything out of the equation ...Sorry to the FUTURE , SAD so SAD !!!!!!!
by iFish Guest on May. 8, 2013
I was there last week there is signs saying they have stocked the lake in fall 2012, but from the shore all i could see was dead minnows and seagulls... not a good sign. I will be checking it out through the summer but it does not look good.
by iFish Guest on Mar. 17, 2013
there is no walleyes in hasselake..never was. only perch and pike and some trout..nothing more. but the fishing here has died out really bad. this use to be the best place for trout fishing but not anymore. REST IN PEACE HASSE LAKE.
by iFish Guest on Mar. 15, 2013
it claims that they stocked over 10000 walleye in if in the months of october and september of 2012?! anyone comment on this??http://mywildalberta.com/Fishing/documents/FishStockingReport-Nov01-2012.pdf

by The CanadianBadass on Jan. 24, 2013
Its a Myth, I will drop my cams near the end of season and double check, but last time i coudnt see Nothing
by Shivers on Jan. 24, 2013
I heard last year they fished out a massive pike. Leads me to think it ate everything else in this lake.
by CanadianBadass on Jan. 15, 2013
There hasn't been fish here for a couple years ! Trust me don't waste your time
by justafishing on Jan. 15, 2013
This could be the reason the fish are dying. EDMONTON â Alberta Health Services (AHS) is advising the public not to swim or wade in Hasse Lake, due to elevated levels of fecal coliform currently present in lake water. I a kinda bummed i was planning on fishing here but not sure if its safe to eat the fish.

Cardiff pond got limit of rainbow let 3 go last 1 @ top of hole ice is over 15 inches
by Skiwegian on Jan. 5, 2013
I was told by a friend there has been perch in the lake since he was 14, and he's over thirty now. Just the province was stocking more bow's than there was perch. It makes me wonder if those people were trawling the lake with nets or something at night when u can't see anyone in the dark.
by coolfish6 on Jan. 5, 2013
They killed the lake off 2 years ago. was a trout pond tell some jackass dumped perck in it. and was over fished by orientles keeping less then a 4 intcher.. no respect for the fish population
by jerbear on Jan. 3, 2013
how is this lake for ice fishing? is there fish in.tgis lake??
by Ice on Nov. 25, 2012
HasSe was stocked with pike perch and walleye this last summer
by Skiwegian on Oct. 21, 2012
You got a point Jay, I wonder if someone trolled the lake with nets and got rid of the fish that way. But I know someone who saw Jackfish in there, and this was three years ago. So makes a person wonder where they are hiding. Maybe it might become like that one lake that had bass in it. Just NE of the city.
by Jay on Aug. 25, 2012
Guys and gals. Wud up. K so go to hasse lake right now. Guess what.. Its empty, nobody goes there anymore. During the last few years when hasse was alive, you would come at sunrise and sunset and find people here; it was very popular. People who come here are not trouble makers, this place is in the middle of nowhere and you have to pay the price to make it to hasse. Guests come here to have fun. A random idiot stays in the city and goes where ever the bus takes him. Who would benefit if hasse dies? People who live on the road leading to it. No more cars driving on the road making noises.. Eh. I suspect it was a Local resident who did this to my favorite lake. Shame on you whoever it is.
by Alberta redneck on Jul. 5, 2012
It wasn't fish and game that pit the pike and perch in hasse it was some unknown jackazz that did it
by Abby on Jun. 24, 2012

by Redneck on Jan. 7, 2012
It winterkilled last year and then had a bad bloom this summer and had a summer kill not sure if there many fish left shore was covered in little perch and trout ... And yes there was some nice pike in hasse also
by CanadianBadass on Dec. 30, 2011
THERE ARE NO FISH IN THIS LAKE. I GREW UP ON HASSE...... fishing used to be awsome, now it has no fish due to lots of pike eating the trout and as well 3 -4 year straight winter kill
by Auger on Dec. 29, 2011
Hows the ice fishing ? Anyone been out ?
by Springbox on Nov. 5, 2011
Can anyone confirm if there is a surviving population of fish here?
by Skiwegian on Oct. 20, 2011
I was told by a gentleman i know who goes that went a couple years ago when they were fishing off the island they saw Jackfish about a foot long. That might be another reason. I hope alberta fish and wildlife stock that lake soon.
by Papirus on Oct. 17, 2011
Very nice camp ground and fishing place. Good luckView on Map
by rod on Aug. 2, 2011
No fish of any kind. I think the numbers of PELICANS AND NOISY SEAGULLS that were there, already catch all the fish.
by Caisa_Runes on Jul. 3, 2011
I was up last weekend as well, did not see any fish jumping. But nice to see the water lvl back up.
by Shawn440 on Jun. 26, 2011
Was on the lake for 4 hours today. Tried everything in my tackle box not one bite. Was on the lake in a boat tried several spots. No one else had any better luck.
by Boognish on May. 24, 2011
Fished this lake for 5 hrs and caught a ton of 5 inch perch but not one trout in 2010.
by Jon on May. 12, 2011
Trout are for city boys.
by Jaykul on May. 11, 2011
Just to note, it was not Fish and Wildlife that put in Pike and Perch into Hasse. Some unknown people dumped in these fish just to wreck one of the best trout lakes in the area.
by ALF on Apr. 16, 2011
it seems that fish and wild life destroyed more than just one lake, some how they like putting mixed fish in trout ponds, just to rune the lake with no reason at all.
by don on Feb. 5, 2011
a very sad and true story here..Hasse was one of the best places to fish for trout upto a few years ago..Now fish an wildlife have introduce pike to this place and are no longer stocking it with trout..a very bad move on fish and wild life dept..now hasse is a dead lake for trout..in the past 2 years i only got 1 trout..very sad...
by Scooter on Dec. 21, 2010
Fished dec17, seen a few foot long pike on camera, no trout, and hundreds of 4-5 inch perch. What a mess
by Pike on Dec. 14, 2010
Apparently pike & perch have been introduced into the lake by some idiots and trout will no longer be stocked there. A fair and use to be good trout lake destroyed.
