Going out tomorrow, should I have any concern about driving a tundra out into the ice either near Gunn or val Quentin side??? Also where are the bites happening depth wise? 8-12 feet deep or more in the 15-25 foot deep range? I'm set up to fish for anything so lures and Riggs and tackle don't matter to me, just looking for fish. Thanks for any input. Happy fishing everyone.

Hi DdotM we have been fishing here for a few years now targeting the Whites. I can tell you patience brings good size whites but not lots of them. Small wire worms and no bait seems to be the key. It is not safe to drive your truck through the ice but if you stay on top you should be good!

First time heading out and fishing in this lake, is there any good tips for catching white fish or any fish in general in this lake and also depth, bait, lures, etc. any pointers would be good! and I would like to know if its safe enough to drive a light truck through the ice. Tnx Tight Lines everyone!

Went out Sunday morning for the whole day. We landed 3 pike. Lost way more. Didn't see anything other than pike. We were near Gunn. Lots of heavy snow bringing up flood water

17 in ice at south of Farming Island but 2-3 in white soft ice between top and bottom like 3 layers, and thick snow on top, there was a truck over there. No walleye and whitefish found and just saw 4 pikes and few perches today.

Skunked today. Lots of slush under the snow, about 14" by Alberta Beach but only about 9" off the Gunn boat launch. Use caution if driving a truck on, you're taking a chance. Ice is pretty bad, lots of 2-3 inch white ice rings all the way down the holes. Ice conditions this year are terrible.

Was out on the weekend and only saw and cough one pike the hold day. I had a camera in the water the hole day off Alberta beach main boat launch. Very slow. The ice was only 10 or so inches thick too with a layer of slush and water on top so no large trucks. We had our small SUV and was ok.

Hi Big fish guy, From where you touch down on the ice from land to reach Ross Haven side? Can you post a map spot with latitude and longitude

Star Star Star Star Star

by Big fish guy on Mar. 16, 2018

Catching the odd VERY large White. Need to be patient very quiet and no maggot or any bait on a tiny little hook. shallow water along weeds and we fish on the Ross Haven side slow slow but well worth the wait. Enough Pike and walleye to keep things interesting between the white sightings.
