Orange or yellow wire worm. Some days they like them tipped with a single maggot sometimes not. 6 inches off bottom and don't jig too aggressively, light vibrations of the jig. Hope that helps.

by NorthernYaker on Jul. 4, 2016
I actually have a video of it from a few weeks back, best guess from people who have seen it is a natural methane release, people I talked to have seen this on other lakes as well, it's either that or the reserve is pumping something into the lake...
by retired on Jul. 3, 2016
I was fishing about 1000 ft west of narrows and about 400 ft from north shore and noticed water bubbling up from the bottom of lake. water was 12 ft. deep and bubblers made a circle of about 3 ft. wide and 6 inches high. you wouldn't notice them unless it was a calm day. any body else notice them or no what causes them

by Sawchuk on Jun. 19, 2016
I have made some phone calls regarding the issue on paying to park at the narrows to fish and wildlife, Alberta government etc. Iam being told it is Indian land but unless the money is going to the tribe and u get proof or something legal saying that individuals can't charge u to park there. In my experience its individuals looking for money not the tribe so I personally won't be paying anyone.
by woo on Jun. 16, 2016
actually the narrows are now on indian land the boundry changed a couple of yrs ago their land now starts on the eastt side of the bridge so by rights they can charge I think or limit access
by TimFil on Jun. 6, 2016

by Sawchuk on May. 26, 2016
Report a poacher ?
What is RAP
by BiggieB on May. 26, 2016
@Sawchuk Next time you see that, contact R.A.P... unless its privately owned land that they have the"land title" for you cant charge for access to any lake, that's why you pay for your license, is for access to all lakes across Alberta... a few years ago that was happening here and people ended up getting vehicles broken into and a few assaults as well..... Remember safety is paramount!
by Sawchuk on May. 24, 2016
Just my opinion but until a proof of payment for parking is given and the money is accually going to the tribe and not an individual and I see something legal saying u have to pay to park at the narrows I won't be paying anyone to do so and I don't think anyone else should eather
U can fish the narrows we were there yesterday the fishing was good the natives were annoying though we got asked 3 or 4 times for $5 to park there and they all had the same story the chief sent them to collect it personally we didn't pay anyone I told them I wanted legal proof that we had to pay to park after I said that all of them just walked away
by JSnat on May. 19, 2016

by Family on May. 5, 2016

by BiggieB on Mar. 23, 2016
Surprised the amount of information alot of anglers don't know...
Aboriginals with their treaty card can net this lake, for personal/reserve consumption only legally....tho alot just sell them on the highway which is not legal...

but I imagine the natives can still net.

Ice thickness is good but extreme caution is advised in crossing the lake. Found 4 more springs with open water in different areas of the lake while driving around with my quad. There were several vehicles on the ice . Fishing was slow in the afternoon but managed 7 pike and 8 walleye in the evening.

by jbussche on Mar. 12, 2016
thanks for reminding me about the springs been awhile since I've seen them as for commercial fishing it's been happening on that lake since I can remember and I'm 42 they need to stop that all together
by Dirtymike on Mar. 12, 2016
Beware anglers of open water. Was riding around on the quad and found several openings due to springs. 1 spring is 600- 700 yards out in front of Ross Haven Village and the other towards the middle of the lake. Both are well marked but caution should be taken as the 1 in front of Ross Haven is approximately 20- 25 feet wide!
Fishing was on the slow side only catching several walleyes and pike for the day.
What gives with commercial fishing . I thought commercial fishing was not permitted on all Alberta lakes. Came across a truck that was just pulling nets in front of Ross Haven.

Finally a decent day on the lake today. It's been slow for me so far at Ste Anne, but today a lot of pike were caught, filled walleye tags and seen a lot of nice whites (although none would bite). Even landed a walleye on a wireworm fishing for whites.

by Sawchuk on Dec. 4, 2015
I usually fish the narrows when I can't drive my truck on the ice but it doesn't matter to me what do u fish for
I normally fish westcove side once in a while will try Yellowstone. Not to sure where to start tomorrow. What are you thinking?
I am heading out early Saturday morning too were do u usually fish
Hey sawchuck I am planning on going out Sat morning not too sure on ice conditions, I was out for look last Sat no one was out so I moved on . If your down let me know always nice to go out with someone earlier in the season.
by Buddha on Dec. 2, 2015
Got out on Dec first. Did alright for pike, got around 23 in the couple hours I was out. Could not find any walleye, but dis not do much scouting due to time restrictions
by MitchTheFisher on Dec. 1, 2015
Hows the fishing for whitefish here?
by Sawchuk on Dec. 1, 2015
Anyone been on the ice yet
by Troy78 on Nov. 28, 2015
There are perch in there just very few. Ever since the lake was closed for walleye there numbers have decreased steady. Haven't seen any in a few years. To bad cause it used to be decent for perch. Used to catch them by narrows on large side of lake behind the point.
by Fishing1012 on Nov. 28, 2015
I have never seen perch or heard of anyone catching any , I think they need to update the rigs, but I could be wronge , good luck

by Sawchuk on Aug. 6, 2015
Shore fishing at the narrows bride never disappoints for jack great spot for kids
by Weekendwarrior on Aug. 6, 2015
I'd just take your son to the main launch in town nothing amazing but always land a few small jacks and the odd walleye. I don't fish for perch but I have seen a couple caught there aswell. As a back up plan the dock at west cove usually produces some decent results
by Danny379 on Aug. 5, 2015
Hi there was wondering if there is anywhere decent to fish from shore, my 8 year old really wants to go and I have only fished from a boat here.
by NorthernYaker on Aug. 2, 2015
Nailing the walleye. Still nice and shallow.
by SD1797 on Jul. 30, 2015
Caught 2 walleye in the early afternoon about 400yds offshore sw of Yellowstone launch
by syncronized77 on Jul. 19, 2015
3 weeks ago you'd be able to boat 20+ walleyes in a half day. It's getting a little harder now that it's deeper in summer... "The party's over" is what one angler said at the boat launch last week. Today the boys and I boated 6 lil pikers and 6 wallies...all on perch colored crankbaits along east side of farmers island weaving in and out at 10-14 feet depth.
by Dinofisher97 on Jul. 5, 2015
Fished there for 15 minutes a few weeks ago and caught a 3 pound pike on a dollarama perch crank bait and landed easy and a quick pic and clean release
by muskie on Jul. 5, 2015
Hey Bullnose i live near the lake my home has been broken into three times and one home invasion since 2010 guess by what each one of them have been caught hard to stay open minded and certain indivividuals give people a hard time when they are fishing at the narrows.

by soulfly on Jul. 3, 2015
Was fishing at the narrows on the south side of the bridge last night. Plenty of walleyes were caught. Pulled up the anchor and we were caught on a mountain bike. Last year we pulled up a folding camping chair. Has this happened to any one else? How much garbage is down there?

There was poaching happening at the narrows again in front of us. There was two groups. One guy was even giving the other group his fish that he was catching. Made the call and F&W caught them all. $1000.00 per fish. People need to think of there actions. The
by Sawchuk on Jun. 5, 2015
Ya it would be nice to see the fish cops out at the lake more there are a lot of poachers out there
by Dickweed on Jun. 3, 2015
Ageed with The Poor, I fish this lake all the time and it nvr seems to dissapoint, lots of Eyes and Pike!.. Only prob is people gotta learn or at least read the regulations cuz i constantly see people poaching both species Walleye & Pike... It is a zero limit for Pike & Walleye (unless have tags). It is super frustrating seeing it everytime out!!! Steady calling report a poacher after usually lettn the know and they continue to poach in front of me. Other than that it is a great lake and a gem to have close to home...

Hey you walleye fishermen at Lake St. Anne, I am out from Red Deer. Where is the best spot to fish for walleyes? Please reply.
by Sawchuk on May. 29, 2015
Alberta beach boat launch and west cove are both good condition for launching depending on which side of the lake your planning on fishing
by Henkelz on May. 29, 2015
How is the west cove boat launch? Never been out there before. What is the best launch? Got some b class walleye tags to fill
by TheRook on May. 25, 2015

by Freddy27 on Mar. 20, 2015
Ya ice is still ok however I do not drive on, lots of others do. The shore lines are not safe in my opinion. I went out on the 18th, the fishing was ok but no whitefish seen on camera. Caught a bunch of pike and a few walleye
by hartly on Mar. 20, 2015
Does any one know if its still safe to be on the ice. Im hoping to take the kids out on sunday. Thanks guys
by sebek18 on Mar. 16, 2015
I drove on today with my BMW and a few friends drove on with their cummins'. Ice is very thick still and if you drive on at the mission then you are all set to go. BUT... no fish caught.
by Sawchuk on Mar. 16, 2015
I wouldn't drive on the ice by the narrows but the fishing there for jacks was great on Saturday if u are going for quantity I walked out from the shore water is open under the bridge but ice is 12 inches 40 feet beside it
by hartly on Mar. 15, 2015

by Brett_irwin on Mar. 8, 2015
Fishing was terrible saw nothing all day!
by Freddy27 on Mar. 8, 2015
Fished all weekend near Alberta beach saw a few whitefish and caught one. Saw several pike and caught 4. Overall kind of slow but with the weather like this it was just awesome. Please drive slow if your still driving on the ice.
by Family on Mar. 8, 2015
Are you allowed to fish at night?
by Astrocyte on Mar. 8, 2015
Went out march 7th, along the ross haven point. Caught 2 walleye, 3 smaller jack, and numerous bites. Saw a few walleye while in the tent. Fishing in 8 to 15 fow, along the drop off. Saw no whites. The boat launches at Yellowstone and east of ross haven are terrible. Huge snow ruts blocking everything and even if you get over them you have to contend with the dock boards like elk slayer mentioned.
A lot of melt happening with the warm weather making everything very slippery too. Still thick ice out there though, for now.
by Elk slayer on Mar. 8, 2015
The concrete pads have lifted through the ice, also the dock boards have shifted and are sticking up everywhere making it difficult to access the lake. Also there are 2 big rutts that make it difficult.
by sebek18 on Mar. 8, 2015
Elk slayer, what do you mean the boat launch is bad?
Where can I buy live minnows
So are there any perch latley
7 walleye 14 jack yesterday near Yellowstone. Bite was later then usual. Yellowstone boat launch is really bad. Nice to see the game warden out there.

Parkers are the supplier of the minnows which can be purchased at many locations just look for the word Parker's on the top of the container. Hoggard spoon is called the walleye willow leaf or just the willow leaf spoon.
Both are available at the Fish'n hole

We drove over to Lac Ste. Anne yesterday morning(23 Jan 2015). Go down the boat launch and onto the ice, saw three fishing huts and nobody around. So we pulled up in between them and drilled new holes. A guy came down the launch in his car and pulls up to us and jumps out of his car and said to me YOUR FISHING OUT OF MY HOLE. Well last I checked no one owns the water. Anyways on to the good note. We drove across the lake by Gunn. We set up our gear caught 1 eye and big jack galore. I would like to say thanks to the guy in the lifted black GMC pickup. I moved about 300 ft and caught 6 or 7 jack. Then about 3:40 pm, the fish went into a feeding frenzy, we caught 31 jack and 5 walleye. I guess that's just karma for what happened in the morning.

by Xhwkrplt on Oct. 9, 2014
Oct 6 fished south of Yellowstone in windy conditions and caught 30-40 walleye and 10-15 pike. Steady all day long.
by Cajed1 on Sep. 24, 2014
Or just launch at West Bank nice new parking area and rip over to narrows in 5 minutes it's free.
by whereiswalter on Sep. 24, 2014
Love the narrows. I've never been bothered but do hear about it. My thinking on it is you get charged 20 at jackfish to fish from shore and maybe catch fish and you might get bugged for 5 here and probably have an awesome day catching. Worth it to me.
by soulfly on Sep. 18, 2014
I've seen that before with the natives harassing people for parking money. I read that one guy was assaulted there as well. You would think that F&W would be there catching all the people that are poaching there.
by syncronized77 on Sep. 18, 2014
Wow that really sucks for the boat launch situation near the narrows. Maybe I'll launch from the south and come up farmer island on the way to the narrows
by Cajed1 on Sep. 18, 2014
It's on the reserve so don't be surprised if they try and ask for money to launch. Refuse then keep your vehicle in sight.
Thanks for the info....is there a boat launch near the Narrows area? I'm only running a trolling motor, so distance is a factor for me.
by iFish Guest on Sep. 18, 2014
Locals have harnessed me several times for money down in the narrows. Not worth the hassle at all.
by FishGirl on Sep. 17, 2014

by Stryker2 on Aug. 18, 2014
It was a bit windy today so we thought we'd try the narrows. Took us a long time to find the fish, at that only caught 3 walleye but one of them was quite a nice size so it kind of made up for the poor luck and very ugly water! :(
by iFish Guest on Aug. 18, 2014
Fished last week in narrows and out at island on main lake. No fish in narrows, lots of dead whitefish near the narrows. Must be summer kill? Lots of algae on lake too, brown and red color. Caught one pike and a dozen nice walleye near island.
by Cajed1 on Aug. 13, 2014
We must have landed around 30fish mostly walleye.
I was the one in the bass boat in the narrows and made the call to F&G while my buddy texted 2 seperate officers. Charges were laid. & If I catch you poaching I'll gladly add to my reward total.
by iFish Guest on Aug. 13, 2014
I'm glad they did that! We all need to follow the rules so our kids can enjoy this great sport.
by iFish Guest on Aug. 12, 2014
I was fishing on Sunday. Caught 2 pike from the shore in the 2 hours I was there. Had a few more hook ups but they got away. Saw a boat that had a stringer full and a shore fisherman whole had 3 in a basket. Fish and wildlife showed up and took all his gear plus gave him a court date. I hear it is 1000$ per fish. Guess it pays to follow the rules.
by Dickweed on Aug. 4, 2014
I fish this lake almost weekly all spring, summer and fall and catch ALOT of fish! So my hands are in and out of the water many times a day, and if we catch Walleye we can put a draw tag on we will eat it and have not ever had a problem, like P.E said "Dont belive the Hype" but do as u please and in turn give me more open water to fish thankx

Broken docks in west end of the lake on the other side of the bridge. I've caught a ton of pike there, a few real nice ones. Had my best luck casting close to the weeds beside the boat launch. There's always folks fishing under the bridge too there.

13" of ice will hold 10 tons with 106 feet between loads. Just make sure of the location of springs! And also the temperature of the ice plays a vital role especially when the outside temp drops fast . It makes brittle ice ! Safety First ! And keep the speed down. Happy fishing.
by Lucky fisherman on Dec. 21, 2012

by Greenbastard on Sep. 10, 2012
Took advantage of the weather yesterday so I went out for the day. The Walleye fishing was fair. The fish where kind of sluggish or lazy when on the line. Have to say the best fishing was from late June to almost all of July. Yellow twin tail jigs was working the best. No Pike on the line all day.

Hey wally buff,
I don't understand some of your feedback? If u really do have a draw for Walleye, u should have 3 tags. Try the North Sask river if u can only fish from shore.
by wally buff. on Aug. 24, 2012

This lake produces year after year. The Walleye are healthy, fat & lots of fun to catch. Best spot is by the island, between two weed beds in 12ft of water. Anchor & jig. Don't waste your time trolling.
Good luck. ✌
