Great day on the lake today. Another 6 hrs, caught 12 and 2 of them finally were keepers. 4lbs each.
by Mikey1781 on Feb. 12, 2017
Had a pretty good 6 hrs on the ice today. Brought in 9 pike all to small but had one that was 1 cm away from being a keeper. Lots of people on he ice today. I just use pickrel rigs with smelts on them with the tip up but also used it on the rod today and worked perfect. Still cant find the perch though.

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 27, 2016
Was a busy day on the lake today. I also caught 7 jacks, 4 on the tip up 3 on the rod and a few others got away. Even caught a little minnow as they were attacking the shrimp i was using. Ill be going back again. Hopefully the person shooting the gun all afternoon wont be there again.

Terrible lake you barely catch anything and when you do they are all under 63cm guaranteed. When I went out we only caught 2 fish between 6 people and we were out their for 6hrs or longer.

125 yards in from the north shore 18 1/2" of ice
by I h8 weeds on Dec. 26, 2016
I'll try over there Albertafisherman.
by Albertafisherman on Dec. 25, 2016
I h8 weeds. Where the parking lot is go left about 200 yards Infront of the second cabin about 60 yards from the shore. Little minnows on a single hook works amazing I was also using tip ups with large smelts and those work good too. A lot of fish are small yes but you get the off big fish 8-10lbs
by I h8 weeds on Dec. 24, 2016
Albertafisherman. Where about were you. When I go it's always hit or miss.
by Pikepro on Dec. 23, 2016
Terrible lake you and your kids won't have fun, you might as well lake the extra 20 minutes and drive to lac st anne, or Jackfish lake
Honestly don't waste your time with this lake the water dirty, its small, and not many fish the ones you do catch look like goldfish.
by Nick miscich on Dec. 23, 2016
I've never fished this lake before. I'm thinking about taking the kids there in the morning. Any advice would be appreciated.
by Albertafisherman on Dec. 23, 2016
Went out today and was incredible. Fished for 3 hours with my buddy and together we caught 27 pike. Everyone on the ice today was catching fish non stop, most under legal size but still limited out with 3 nice keepers for each of us. Very fun and exciting fishing at this lake. Very easy and constant fish action. There was a couple guys by us also who caught afew nice size perch
by Erim_Nelson on Dec. 22, 2016
Brought three pike up to surface today, all under legal size (I don't keep them anyway). Lost count of how many I saw on the camera. A few that looked to be around 5lbs. Saw a couple little perch, too small to catch.
Tons of pike on the cameraView on Map

by Anthonie on Dec. 20, 2016
Sorry that last comment was meant to be put on lake Athabasca, I tested out devils lake no fish I was using a fish finder didn't see anything and everyone around us was catching nothing. Overall terrible lake
I went out with 3 guys and we caught 16 fish total. We caught them not to far from the parking lot/ boat launch. The ice is at 14 inches so it is thick enough to drive on but don't disrespectful and speed pass people fishing because it makes waves in the water and scares the fish away!!!
by Nick miscich on Dec. 18, 2016
Anyone catching anything out there?

There is no dock at the boat launch. You can put any motor in the water there. I've used electric trolling motor on a Jon boat and my 120hp gas motor.
by Craig W. on Nov. 1, 2016
Whoops - my comment didn't seem to post correctly. Meant to ask if there's a dock, and secondly if small electric trolling motors are allowed here?
Can anybody confirm:_1) Whether or not there is a dock by the boat launch people mentioned at the northeast part of the lake

This lake is weird this year. There is like a milky cloudy level of water 2-6 feet off the bottom I saw with a camera on the north shore in 25-18' of water very gross
by ATVGuy on Feb. 3, 2016
Tried for 4 hours on Jan 31. Not even a bite. Very strange for this lake. It usually produces at least a couple 50 cm pike. I tried anchovies and shiner minnows for bait. Dead-stick and jigging.

by pikeslayer420 on Jan. 25, 2016
Sorry folks, thought it was wabamun I was on haha. I take my nephew here and always land small ones. Nothing ever to brag about but it's always guaranteed.
8 pound slough shark yesterday and a bunch of other pike about 4-5 lbs. Try again today for the bigger one. And fishlips should stay at home and quit complaining about this lake. Go fish elsewhere and quit whining.
by charliesgirl on Jan. 23, 2016
I'm a smoker & I never leave butts laying around, they get packed out with me. I too used to take a white shopping bag along but I've since kept a large green one in the truck because it is totally disrespectful of our environment when you see the amount of garbage. Sadly if these people have children, they set bad examples. People need to realize that fishing is a privilege, not a right! The majority of people I've met fishing are genuinely interested in preserving the resource for our children's children. Remember that we all teach by example :) With that said, I wish everyone awesome hard water fishing! and remember to take a kid fishing :)
by Jaw jacker on Jan. 23, 2016

by Nemo77 on Jan. 22, 2016
I'm with you Jello. Would be nice if there were a majority mature enough people out there to clean up after themselves. It is a very big pity that people cannot take care of their surroundings. Such a shame. Can only hope karma comes around.
by Jello on Jan. 22, 2016

The only access I know of is the boat launch. I think the rest of the land around the lake is privately owned.
by Recon73 on Jan. 19, 2016
Where do you access the lake on the south side?
by I h8 weeds on Jan. 18, 2016
Nemo77. The one that got away was a nice sized pike. Around 28-30" mark and had some girth. I think my line got cut on the side of the hole. He yanked hard right near the hole. Poof! He was gone.
by Huntfishlive on Jan. 17, 2016

by Nemo77 on Jan. 17, 2016
I h8 weeds. No problem buddy, glad you caught some goodies with your son. That's awesome, one that got away, did you manage to get a look at it least? I had one break off, no idea what it was though. :-(
by Jmanjgk on Jan. 17, 2016
I went yesterday from 8 till 3,
I cought 7 pike and one burbot.
I catch and release !
I was on the south end of the lake
just east of the fishing shacks.
I have a strong feeling that there is an under current from some where in this lake, on my flasher I saw heavy activity at about 15' non-stop and total depth was about 18'.
by I h8 weeds on Jan. 15, 2016
Out for 3 hours. Steady action for the first two hours. Struggled to hook a few. Landed some 20" -22" pike and had a larger one break my line and take my favourite lure. Thanks for the tip on a great spot Nemo77.
by I h8 weeds on Jan. 14, 2016
Thanks Nemo77. I'm headed there this Friday or Sunday. My son and I got skunked last Sunday. Hopefully we'll have better luck this time.
by Nemo77 on Jan. 13, 2016
I h8 weeds. Sorry forgot to mention, a guy has a semi permanent ice shack on the ice out that way, I was East of this shack and roughly the same distance out. There are pike galore there and the perch active too. :-) Throw a second line on the bottom and try for a burbot too. I will be doing this there from now on. Hopefully out there again next week fingers crossed.
I h8 weeds. I was on the South side of the lake toward the East end. I was not to far in from the bank. Lots of minnows so if your bobber is constantly going I found dropping the hook by about 6 to 8 inches worked well. I was roughly 12 to 20 inches off the bottom. I found bites were very active when the sun is on the lake so from roughly 10:15am to 3pm.
by I h8 weeds on Jan. 9, 2016
Nemo77. Where you catching the pike? Want to take my 10 year out for the first time and give him the best chance so he enjoys it.
by Nemo77 on Jan. 4, 2016
Had lots of Jackfish in the last week. Had a descent size perch and unfortunately lost an okay fish on a rod that was baited on the bottom. I was hoping for a burbot. LOL. Cliche I know, the one that got away. Ha Ha
by Kyver V on Jan. 4, 2016

by Stumps on Jan. 4, 2016

There isn't much in the way of shore fishing. The only spot that works is a small bridge on the north side of the lake. You'll know it when you see it (look for all the old fishing line hanging from the power lines) lol. The bridge gets pretty weeded over later in the season. The lake works best of you have a boat - the launch is on the Northeast part of the lake - just down from the bridge. God luck!

When I was there last weekend the snow was about 6-8" deep. I guess it would depend on the type of car but probably better to just pull a sled with your gear and walk out. It's not far from the launch parking lot to get to 12-20 feet. Probably 800 yards or so walking

Was out last Saturday morning ...landed over a dozen pike. My buddy used frog spoon the whole time. I used walleye runner, rapala crankbait, bucktail, weedless silver minnow and landed on all of them. Nothing to call home about but good action none the less. Found a school of walleye on the fish finder in the middle of the lake but couldn't get to their depth of 22ft :(

Was on it today with truck on north side west of boat launch. At least 6 vehicles on at same time. Lots of Pike.
by Schnidy on Jan. 9, 2014
It's a small lake and you can access both sides, so you could walk to any spot in ten min or less! All depends on how much you value your truck lol
by Jaged1980 on Jan. 8, 2014
I would say its unsafe if a tent and auger fall through a truck would
by Slickdog33 on Jan. 8, 2014
Wow glad the guy is ok it sucks he lost his gear though. I am going here Sunday. Is it safe to drive on at all or should I not even try to drive on
by Schnidy on Jan. 6, 2014
Be careful out there boys, a guy lost all his fishing gear, tent auger and almost his Yamaha to the spring in the middle of the lake last week!!! Mostly all pike in here some small walleye and maybe 4 or 5 perch left in there after it got over-fished the last couple years of its perch

During the summer the fish finder shows all kinds of whites swimming just below surface. In late summer when oxygen levels are low, you see many dead whites on the surface, typical of many lakes. The whites are large though from what I've seen.
