Ya was told by a local that her husband caught in the little canal area. But who knows. I think the perch are moving deeper now arent they?
by Mossberg86 on Feb. 26, 2017
Been here twice this year with no results not even a single bite and was later informed that the majority of the fish are gone due to a previous winter kill.

Has anyone been out here this past year? Its been a number of years since the winterkill/stunted fish so maybe things will begin to pick up? More curious if anyone has seen anything on the camera or sonar to at least show there are fish in the lake.

Fished for 4 hours tonight. For perch and jack.
Not a single bite or nibble.
Almost nothing on the fish finder either.
We were the only fishermen on the lake.

Not sure why all my post did show
Went out around June 1...many dead fish...absolutely no weed growth...contrary to popular belief winter kill has more to do with how long the ice is on and snow pack

This lake is pron to winter killing. It died out about 3 years ago, but it always bounces back.
by Toohey on Jun. 15, 2014
Was there today, fished all over and not even a bite. I find winter kill hard to believe but something happened.
by Johnny 5 on May. 26, 2014
Was there yesterday. Cant get through the channel to the other side too shallow. Maybe they are all over there spawning but fishfinder was going nuts in the holes. Didnt seem right. No way this lake could winterkill
by Wes Church on May. 26, 2014
Considering the lake has in excess of 80 feet of water i find winter kill hard to swallow. There are plenty of leeches and shrimp in the lake that are feeding the monsters in the deep. I was there yesterday and got a decent strike casting from shore on a five of diamonds spoon. I did not land anything but I know they are in there somewhere.

How to get onto the lake...
1. Get to mink lake store
2. Go west to star lake
3. Turn right at star lake
4. Turn left onto duffield road
5. Turn left onto rr30
6. Follow the road until it dead ends in a subdivision
7. Turn left
8. Turn right onto first road, this is the lake access.
9. Don't tell anyone else

11 to 12 inches of ice by the boat launch, we walked on. Seen small perch on camera and a couple of small pike also. Nothing came up through the hole though.
by Dave on Dec. 9, 2012
Tried Mayatan for about 4 hrs. on Sunday and managed 2 small pike. That would have been fine except I was trying for perch! I got no perch at all... this lake continues to be a tough nut for me to crack, any advice would be really appreciated. Water was very stained/murky today as well.

With some light tackle caught a bunch of stunted perch. Definately not for everyone, but would be good for little kids.
