Was out on Sunday from 7-7. Started out slow. Moved spots and got on them! 12 walleye, 4 pike, including a 15lb healthy momma pike!! They are there, ya just have to find them.

A friend toured the lake by sled on the weekend and talked to a dozen guys and the fishinh was horrible from one end to the other. I haven't heard any good reports for 3 winters now and most of the fish are small and sickly. Obviously this lake is headed for a total collapse.

Put for a couple hours this morning . One small pike. Couldn't find the walleye even in tried and true spots. Almost perfect day to be out there though

2.5 hrs , 4 guys and not a bite. Funny how 88000 liters of poison ruin a lake, thanks CN

by iFish Guest on Jan. 26, 2019

Fished about 2 hours on 20th January just west of Sundance plant. A few wally's but no pike. 12" of ice and drivable but some pretty deep snow in places. 4wd only and even then you could get stuck so bring a good shovel.

by Stinkfinger on Jan. 25, 2019

I remember a guy using sliced liver for pike here,i have to say it works amazing

Does anyone know a recent ice thickness off the main dock? Thx.

by redneckfishnalbertan on Jan. 20, 2019

Sure ther could be but I'm sure not like there was 15 years ago . As for lac la nonne theres always good quality size pikes there biggest I pulled out of there was 16 pounds and it was 10 years ago in front of elks beach .

Star Star Star Star Star

by Verjario on Jan. 19, 2019

Only 5-8lbs? Was at lac la nonne today and caught 12 all around 8lbs, I heard their was supposed to be 20 pounders and higher in wabamun

by redneckfishnalbertan on Jan. 17, 2019

Theres big Jack's in wab you could get a monster but usually 5 to 8 pounds is very possible. Its catch n release though so if ya catch that monster measure it take picture .

What size jack has everyone Been catching, heard wabamun is a trophy lake with around big jack so I'm curious to if it's true or not

Verjario: No slush or wet spots that I found, just extremely slow on the camera around the point by the sailing club, lots of whites but they weren't interested and saw only 2 skiddish walleyes in 15fow in 5 hours on camera, very disappointing.

by Verjario on Jan. 11, 2019

River_rat- any slush or over flow coming out off RR55, I have heard their are some big pike in that lake, biggest I caught was 74cm and that was last winter at lac la nonno, I want to catch bigger lol

by River_rat on Jan. 11, 2019

Ice Report: 14 in
14-16 inches just off RR55 on the south west side, 12 inches at the townsite launch

by Verjario on Jan. 10, 2019

It's very well possible that it read just over flow, I only just started ice fishing last winter. I know my backend did drop a little, and seeing in my side view mirror I saw ice a few inches thick where I drove through. I just thought maybe because it being a warm winter so far, and it being a bigger lake that maybe it's not frozen over food yet.

Hmmm weird. I’ve been fishing at wabamun all winter and use the main town boat launch I fished last weekend about 300 yards off point Allison pretty close to the middle of the lake and it was an easy 14” of solid ice. Every time I’ve drilled in mutiple locations I haven’t had less than 12” are you sure you just didn’t go through the overflow on top? lol.

I came in off the main wabamun boat launch and was heading up towards fallis, was probably about 1/3 of the way when I started going through the ice and found a access road just past what I believe was the sailing club. I would say I was a good 60-80 feet away from shore. It was my first time going to wabamun fishing and my buddy did the navigating, but looking at the map now myself i see so many other ways we could have gone instead trying to drive across the entire lake. Now looking at the map and seeing he wanted to go over by seba beach, I don't really understand why he had me go in from all the on the other side of the lake when I clearly can see a lot of other roads coming right in off yellowhead

Verjario - Where? I was at fallis last week were there was a good 10 inches of SOLID ice.. threre was some slushy spots near the shore.. is that where u fell in?

Careful going into wabamun, back end of my truck went through the ice twice but luckily I kept my momentum and was able to get through it and found an exit off the lake not far up. So if driving on the lake be really careful

Went 300 yards slightly to the right off town Dock yesterday, landed 9 pike and walleye in 4 hours. Biggest maybe 7 pounds. Lots of slush making difficult fishing conditions, saw a 20+ pounder just staring at my minnow!

Range Road 42 to Sundance road, cant miss the Parking to the right few mins down the road. Fishing on both sides the main lake and the side lagoon. Solid size fish on both sides. We have never gone here an NOT catch a couple of pike and walleye. Pike anytime of day, walleye morning and late evening. Lots and Lots of shore fishing spots. Down side Mid day is pretty hot no Shade and shore is made up of mid to large size rocks. Can be hairy navigating but not too bad. TheFishinBroz -K
