Went there on May 27, 2016.
Water was extremly shallow, lots of weeds and zero fish. Was there for a few hours and all I caught was a headache from the rank smell and seaweed.

Feb 26, ice 18"+ getting crunchy near the edges. Still driving on.
Ice was doing some wicked snapping and popping today with all the heat.
Fished around NW corner in varied from 9' - 12' of water. Seen some sonar action, but not much. No bite on minnows.

Yeah man. Smelts and minnows. They're both working. Smelts have been a bit better tho. Good luck out there. I'm heading out Saturday evening. If you see a white lifted Tundra, come say hi! ... And I've never got perch or ling in this lake. I'm sure there are the odd few kicking around tho. Everyone's driving out from the west boat launch. I'm pretty sure that RV park on the other side is gated off for the winter!
Any perch here? Which boat launch is everyone using? I know they make you pay at rv resort in summer
by Stashy_86 on Jan. 20, 2016
Really appreciate it Mitch. I'll be headed out to give it a try on the south end, never been that far. I assume you are using smelts like most everyone else?
And we got all the walleye at night
by mitchyd on Jan. 19, 2016
We were out on the lake just south of the boat launch half way between that and the point. About a half km from the boat launch. That is where we got all the pike. All the walleye were at the south end of the lake!
by Stashy_86 on Jan. 19, 2016
Mitch, what part of the lake are you fishing? I've been out 5 times this year and caught 1 pike...
by mitchyd on Jan. 18, 2016

I caught a pike 67 cm. jan 4 and i eat it and it was excellent
by danykane on Jan. 3, 2016
I have never fished this lake and judging by all the comments it appears the ice may be thick enough to drive on (as of Jan 3, 2016). Is this correct.
It also seems as though the fishing is not too bad by a boat launch on the west side which I can see on Google maps (but it looks like it is near private residences?)
And most concerning of the comments I read are the reports of smelly water...which leads me to presume your catch may not be safe to eat even though it says otherwise below.
If anyone could shed some more light on any/all of the above I would certainly be very grateful.
Thanks so much.
by Houston1 on Jan. 3, 2016
There were trucks driving high speed on the ice last weekend - also a few vehicles that were parked too close together.
I drilled a few holes and the water seemed smelly. Has anyone eaten any fish out of this lake?
by Semonal on Jan. 3, 2016
Lots of ice for driving on. 16-20 inches. About 30 trucks on the ice today. About 10 inconsiderate dbags zooming around on quads and sleds right past our holes

by Zeus87 on Dec. 14, 2015
The fish are still ok to eat according to cbc when they did a report about the algae. However you need to fillet them properly and don't eat the skin or organs. Don't think I would eat them on a regular basis but a fish dinner is to good to pass on sometimes.
by mountainman11 on Dec. 14, 2015
I see mixed reports. Some say you can eat the fish. And some say you can't.
So what is it? What agency can I call to get the right answer?
Any credible information would be appreciated thanks!

Yes. But there is a slot size. Not sure you want to eat them though.

Ya you can head down the nursery road until the end. There is a boat launch on the left and no one lives in the house there so you can fish all the way around it.

Was out camping here. Decided to try fishing the lake. Like skunkd said, full of weeds, and it was really hard not getting snagged in weeds anything 10 feet or less fow. Water was really mucky and green, barely any visibility in the water and it stunk. I tried fishing anyways. I decided to launch from the west launch and it was a pain in the butt to launch my trailer and boat since it's so shallow! I fished for 3 hours with only 3 nibbles and I'm not even positive if they were bites! Might be weeds! I saw 4 other ppl fishing but didn't see a catch. I suggest spending the extra gas and go to pcr or cvr for consistent fishing! (If you're in calgary area)
by skunk'd on May. 27, 2015
Was out tonight with the boat, cruised the whole lake, tried several different lures, didn't get even a nibble. Maximum water depth was 15', most of the shallower waters were full of weeds. Green and smelly. Can't believe there's decent fishing there.
by mitchyd on May. 13, 2015

by SpinKing on Apr. 14, 2015
Thanks Mitchyd. All the best for the season.
by mitchyd on Apr. 14, 2015
I never fish from shore there. It's too shallow for the most part. Unless you're on the south side where the rock wall is. It drops off more and there's an inlet there that I usually do decent at for both walleye and pike. The spot where I do best for walleye is out of casting reach and by some pretty swampy shore on the west side. Just down from the west boat launch.
by Coolcat on Apr. 13, 2015
michyd where do u fish the walleye??
by SpinKing on Apr. 13, 2015
Thanks Mitchyd. I thought so. Last summer I got only pikes and the previous summer got 2 walleyes about 24". Any good spots for walleye from the shore?
by mitchyd on Apr. 13, 2015
No I never got anything other than pike or walleye out of Eagle. The walleye get pretty decent sized out of there. Got lots over 20". The biggest one I got was 27", close to 6 pounds. I never caught any walleye in the winter, only pike! If you want ling, I reccommend McGregor or Ghost Lake at night time! And for perch, Burnstick Lake is alright!
Have you ever caught perch or bubot in this lake? We ususally catch pike alone.
It's best in June trolling Rapala's or twister tails with minnows. We got our limits a lot last year. I even caught a 40" pike by the rock wall on the south side of the lake. It was weird cause the only ones I ever got out of there were like half that size lol

My wife hated the murky water. It was a bright sunny day minimul wind used a boat and caught nothing after 6 hours 4pm till 8ish. Seen a guy catch something near the boat launch. Lots of cattle and grain farmers run off but that was it. Who knows what kinds of fertilizers are draining off the fields into the lake...dont want to go back. Heard, seen and smelt cattle while fishing.

Your report of big walleye with a gross growth is alarming. I remember reading a report years ago on Eagle Lake water contamination & pollution. I remember even swimming was not recommended let alone eating the fish.
by iFish Guest on Jan. 23, 2014
I was fishing off the boat launch to the right about 1 km down the lake on the west side, was a big walleye and nice pike. Ive never seen walleye out of that lake before, and it had a gross growth coming out of its gill, but was 7lbs...shes still in there for others to catch, good luck. Usually I go to crawling valley for walleye or Mcgregor lake

I want to catch walleye! We fished right where everyone drives on the lake last weekend and caught 4 pike. We were using orange jigs with a glow in the dark head. What were you using? What end of the did you fish on?
by iFish Guest on Jan. 19, 2014
Caught my first walleye out if that lake today was 7lber! Took my pics And through her back, caught 6 keeper pike to, great day, thick hard ice, almost 2 feet thick
by iFish Guest on Jan. 17, 2014
Ice is over 2 feet thick. We drilled 6 holes, very safe to drive on right now. Caught a small pike, and another fish (line broke). Were using spoons to jig. Great day out, we were only there for a couple hours. Saw 4-5 other vehicles out there.

Can you put an ice hut on the lake here or is there some sort of regulation regarding permeant shelters? Any info appreciated as I am having trouble finding info on this online. -boots

Where do I fish for burbot and walleye and pike on the lake
by Matix on Jul. 6, 2013
Just a heads up to everyone, the house by the boat launch you are not allowed on the cement wall. The home owners are very upfront about that, not sure what the law is about that but didn't want to start any trouble. She said she paid out of her own pocket for the wall & says its her property. Too bad, the fishing is good there!

Anyone catching perch here?
by Thatguy585 on Feb. 6, 2013
How do the walleye taste. I'm a little concerned with all the nearby farm land & apparently I heard rouner that the town of Strathmore was (or is) dumping treated sewage in it. Any truth to the story?
by iFish Guest on Feb. 2, 2013

Spoke with a couple of guys that were on the north end who were there before i got there and they never got a bite either.

Hi all, I was thinking about heading up there on Saturday. Anyone know if it's worth the trip?

fished in eagle lake on may 9/2011 in boat. water is very dark and murky. you can only see your lure for 12 to 14 inches deep. casted everything in the box, and even used bait. 8 hours on the lake and no fish for either of us(two). dont use your only day off this week on this lake! nice to get out on a lake again!
