What lures are good to use in this lake? I've never tried ice fishing here since the bait ban many moons ago. I wouldn't mind to give it a good try.

Launched a boat today and no problem. Water level wasn't an issue at all. Fishing on the other hand wasn't so good. Have an 18.5 foot aluminum with a 150hp on the back and it was fine
by curt26 on Jul. 13, 2016
Has anyone launched a boat yet, if so how's the water level?

Had a couple bites but only managed to get one little guy to shore. Caught about half way between the boat launch and the waterfall on a small rapala countdown. With it being the long weekend, the place was packed.
by so77 on Jul. 13, 2015
Lots of young ones biting on almost anything close to shore. Son caught his first fish using a bob and some flies. All too small to keep but it was a fun catch and release day.

by mitchyd on Jun. 24, 2014
We were in the boat too. Boat launch is ok
Went here on Sunday and landed 4 cuttys and 3 bulls. Cuttys weren't big enough to keep but it was still good fishing. Biggest bull was just over 4lbs. We missed a bunch too
by Alex_2013 on Jun. 16, 2014
I was on Upper lake on Saturday, June 14th. Water is low, only 3-4 rows of concrete blocks on the end. Week ago someone broke a trailer axle. I didn't take a boat, was fishing from shore.
by crownroyalrage on Jun. 15, 2014
Any updates on water level here and where the boat ramp is at for water?
by iFish Guest on Jun. 7, 2014
Water level extremely low, you probably won't be able to launch any boat that you can't drag in.
by iFish Guest on Dec. 30, 2013
Fished for 2-3 hrs yesterday. Felt a couple hits, but no hook ups. Quite a few other people on the lake, but it didn't look like they were catching any either.

Barrier lake had some open spots in middle and near dam and spray is all open water so I expect the k lakes wouldn't be safe yet either but didn't go down that far on 40 to check them myself.
by BigTomAce on Nov. 23, 2012
Anyone know if there is ice yet?
by nu2me on Jul. 26, 2012
Fished on the 22nd caught 6 trout 5 bulls 1 cut largest one was 18 inches smallest was 14". Caught all while trolling with trout stylye cranks. Sure do wish they were rainbows as there was no fight to these fish at all. all 6 came in like tame puppies and barely fought at the boat. I use light line as i like the fight but barely any action at all. Going back next week with fly rod to see if these rainbows being reported exist.
by bowhunter on Jul. 22, 2012
Fished the lakes now for 47 years used to be an old gravel road into the lakes you can still see parts of it now overgrown if you know where to look.We trolled nymphs and did some dryfly from anchored positions with great success many monster bows were caught 10 pds plus and some big bulls but very few cutties were ever caught.I think it's great to see the lakes go back to their original species. One can't help but wonder if there's not some naturally occurring rainbow spawning now.It brought back some old memories seeing my nephew catch and release a 12 pd bull buck below the dam using his flyrod in june 2012.Good luck to all the fly guys fishing the lakes.
by M on Jul. 18, 2012
Amazing day on Saturday. The water was like glass. Landed 1 big cut and 4 rainbows on dry flies. Fantastic!
by Beadhead on Jul. 7, 2012
Great day yesterday. Kudos to fish and wildlife to create the news regs. 24 curries to the net and many more missed. Can't wait until the ditties all hit the 50 cm mark and hopefully take one home. Until then I willc
Gladly catch and release, buy my bass from safeway and enjoy quality fishing.

So u have to teach a kid how to kill and eat fish in order for him/her to like fishing? That's lame. You should just take the kid to other ponds where u can catch 7incher all day long and kill them all.
by Slick on Jun. 25, 2012
Agreed with Rainbow. I learned and got hooked on fishing on a Perch lake where they would bite anything at anytime - and we could keep 50! That said this forum isn't made for bickering so take it elsewhere.
by Rainbow on Jun. 25, 2012
You really don't understand it's about the future teaching our kids to fish....that means stock and take lake . This why every year there are less people buying fishing licenses in Alta. because of people like you. Teach the younger generation how to fish.....not everything has to be about trophy or money
by hkhugo on Jun. 25, 2012
I was there last weekend and i got 5 rainbows over 50cm and a couple little guys to.
by What on Jun. 22, 2012
Lmao to the post below. Hows rainbow taste like from upper lake? lol good luck catch one. I bet he can't even tell the difference between rainbow and Cutties... Maybe even bullies.
Anyway, Alberta will never have trophy lake with guys like below. It's good start for the new regulation.
by Rainbow on Jun. 16, 2012
This is one of mistakes ever made by Fish & Wildlife.I taught my kids to fish on this lake..Rainbows. Now we're allowed 1 fish and 50cm What a joke. To bad nobody is accountable for such a absolute MESS of a great rainbow lake
by J on Jun. 12, 2012
Thanks big mike, I have I few different ones. I will be fishing from a boat
by BIG_MIKE on Jun. 8, 2012
Rapalas, you need to figure out which ones but the work very well even from the shore. you can catch 2-3 lb's if you use the right ones
by J on Jun. 8, 2012
So is this lake worth fishing any more? What have people used to catch rainbows? ( not fly fishing)
by Snazyevey on Jun. 7, 2012
Not totally true rbw. I fish that lake quite a bit and have seen rainbows about in the lake. And last year I did get one in June. It was of the bigger variety. Probably 5 6 pounds.
It's true they haven't been stocked for years but there are a few stragglers left. But from what I have seen they are usually bigger then the average cutty
by RMW1974 on Apr. 1, 2012
You won't get rainbows anymore. Haven't been stocked for years. Many cutts in this lake don't have a bright red chin and are often mistaken for rainbows. Anything under 50cm here is a cutt.

Was there for five hours I pulled in a rainbow about 12 in how ever the wife got seven all about 7-9 in I am never going to hear the last of that lol

Fishing well - lots of action on dry flies within 10m of shore.

Was out Thursday for the afternoon. Only managed one cuttie on a prince. Weather turned south o I went home. No one else seemed to do much better. Been tough all week.
