i was recently getting some big ones, the lake is over crowded so i fish the ends of the lake working my way in and i seem to find them , dont get me wrong for every big one comes 10 small ones but there is some big ones still would be nice if people didnt keep 20+ a day

Went out fri-sat. All small fish. 900 people on the ice and prob close to the same in holes drilled. Fishing pressure is very high here and I doubt any fish left of decent size. Slower than usuall too.

Found the boat launch, nice little launch and campsites. Lake is really shallow and extremely weedy. The only thing caught from anyone out there off a boat last Sunday was weeds. 2 people on the dock were pulling up wee tiny perch all day long. ( honestly don't know why they didn't put them back! There aren't any size restrictions for this lake, but they were barely pan fries!)

by Angel on Jun. 1, 2016

Where is the boat launch and how is the water level and weeds? We've never been out here.

Aight thanks man

by NorthernYaker on May. 11, 2016

$10 dollars just to get past the gate last year. The only shore.fishing would be from the boat dock and judging from the number of boats that rip around that little lake I think very little.fishing would happen from the dock with boats loading and unloading all day.

I understand the lake opens up may 15 but can you shore fish here with spoons or small jigs? If so where?

Great weekend at the moon. Got into some real nice perch 8-10 inchers with alot of little ones. All u gotta do it bigger hook and bait to keep the littlw ones away and you can get some nice dinner makers. Took my limit. What a great meal

Star Star Star Star Star

by redneckfishnalbertan on Mar. 12, 2016

Lol remembers fishing 25 years ago .there was no restrictions on size . Seems no matter how you size it up is human error ,climate change, poor management. Our fish stocking program is a joke . Govt heads just don't care they rather fatten there own pockets an keep the outdoorsman confined to the concrete jungle .I'm just saying have a great season I'm going back north far north.

by ATVGuy on Mar. 9, 2016

How do you define way too many people? The lake is overrun by three inch perch. Unless F&W introduces a few pike, its probably best that people do their part in culling. I like action as much as the next guy, but I prefer the lake to be healthy and for some of the perch to have a chance at growing a bit.

too bad everyone found out about this place this year, last few years i been going here there has been a decent amount of people but now there is way to many people here , 1 can really ruin it all

by BigMackLittleMack on Mar. 6, 2016

Lots of little fish today, a few keepers. Great day on the ice. 24" of good ice, no flood water

Agrees with Fishlips there's a practice in place catch release.Save some species for our children's children.Soceity is all Gung ho on keeping everything they catch. As a member of the conservation branch were on the lakes but there's only so many of us we can't be at every lake. But thank to technology we have caught lots of people with to many fish illegal fishing. It's you who helps just remember REPORT A POACHER.Its your lake as it is everyone's. Thank you Happy fishing

Star Star Star Star Star

by Family on Feb. 29, 2016

So you think the best thing to do would be to introduce a predatory species to keep the perch population at bay?

Star Star Star Star Star

by ATVGuy on Feb. 28, 2016

Fished on the 26th, and saw hundreds of 3 inch perch through the hole. I don't think a few busy weekends could fish the place out. The more serious risk as stated by Riverbear is stunting. It may seem counter-intuitive, but what this pond really needs is to have some pike introduced with a restriction on keeping pike under 50 cm.

Star Star Star Star Star

by FISHLIPS on Feb. 27, 2016

Good luck catching anything over 5"s, i caught an 8" and it was soooo skinny there was practically no meat left. Its guys like you that destroy these lakes, I seen alot of people keeping ridiculously small perch yest.

Star Star Star Star Star

by bigpikehunter on Feb. 25, 2016

Cant wait to go out on saturday and get my limit of yummy perch!!! Goodluck changing the limits. Dont think it will happen.

Star Star Star Star Star

by Riverbear on Feb. 25, 2016

Stunted growth for perch is a problem in Alberta. SD report.

by FISHLIPS on Feb. 25, 2016

They just need to survey the populations and set limits accordingly yr to yr , lake to lake.1 dollar of your license goes toward stocking lakes, where does the rest go because many of the camp grounds are very expensive , poorly maintained, damaged launches and charge for wet wood, not to mention some are $30+ a night. There are many lakes F&W have destroyed with over stocking and 0 limit on walleye, they will eat everything in a lake leaving the other species to starve out.

Star Star Star Star Star

by Family on Feb. 24, 2016

Well I'm going to send a powerful petition paper to fish and game and hopefully they can do something about it, and maybe start going to half moon a lil more often so this doesn't happen!

Star Star Star Star Star

by Droc01 on Feb. 24, 2016

5 would be good and pending what a Perch's reproductive size is maybe should let the big ones go to keep the like going

Star Star Star Star Star

by Family on Feb. 23, 2016

What would you guys think as a good limit? Maybe 5?

by Droc01 on Feb. 23, 2016

Change the limit on the perch lakes!

Star Star Star Star Star

by Droc01 on Feb. 23, 2016

I wouldn't say a size limit. But really. Look at the lakes that have stunted size or small or few fish. Some guys go every day and catch limit. Maybe that needs to change

Star Star Star Star Star

by Family on Feb. 23, 2016

I would actually like to start a petition on this, maybe start a size restriction on the perch? Let me know what you guys think! And I will get this rolling!

Star Star Star Star Star

by FISHLIPS on Feb. 23, 2016

100 trucks last weekend and prob kept their limit of mini perch 1500 perch in 1 day!! This lake needs to be left alone or it will be decimated!!

Star Star Star Star Star

by Family on Feb. 18, 2016

Last time I went a few weeks ago we were catching 10-14 inchers and real easing all but two

Star Star Star Star Star

by Bush on Feb. 15, 2016

This lake is way too close to the edmontonians. I estimate about 100 fisherman today. No perch in the 8" range and the poor little lake is still getting over fished

Star Star Star Star Star

by Family on Feb. 13, 2016

Anyone catching pike? Love to know where and how if anyone is interested in sharing!

by FISHLIPS on Feb. 6, 2016

The prob is that people get into good perch fishing and then flap their lips on the net..... Then cry about the poor fishing after the lake is decimated Alberta only has 800 lakes Sssk has 400,000 Shhhhhhhhhhh

Thinking of going here Tuesday. Are the perch biting good and where abouts? Any pike? Thanks

Star Star Star Star Star

by Albertafisher127 on Jan. 7, 2016

Pulled out lots of small ones (2-4 inches) and caught a few bigger ones (5-7 inches) Lake was packed. Had to be at least 40 trucks on the lake. Mostly set up right off the access. Found that the fishing was better at the beaver houses to the east. Very fast fishing, great if you're out having fun with the kids. Not so great if you're looking to catch some supper.

Went out today around 10 am. Good thing I brought the boat, as the docks were flooded. The woman working at the gate indicated there were no pike, but recently stocked with perch. After two hours, caught neither. Nice to float around though.

Fireman, Vegreville trout pond just past the turn off to Vegreville heading east has Perch and Rainbows. Once you drive under the Veg. overpass keep driving nabout 5 km and you will see a chain link fence on your right hand side. Pond is right on the other side. Watch out for open water in the south ends (winter air raiding in effect). Stay on the North to 1/2 way point . Ice thickness in those areas is about 18" thick. Perch range in size under 6", Rainbows vary from 6-14 ". Nice pond for kids to stay interested. Try shrimp they seem to go for it all the time.
