I had visited this lake a couple years ago in the summer. I have fished here a few times before then and had caught a few suckers and some decent trout while trolling, from 1-3 pounds. But this time I was fishing from shore, and within the first 10 minutes on the south-east side using a pickerel rig with a bobber, a yellow marshmallow, and a worm. I had hooked into 7 pound 9 ounce rainbow. At first I thought it was a snag, and it didn't feel normal. But when I realised it was a fish I got it to shore fairly quick. I got it to shore and I noticed it was foul hooked. I was really happy but it had to one of the ugliest rainbows I've seen, it was extremely old and faded female with little to no colour. and was

How's the fishing this year ? Any jumbo trout pulled out this year

by fiveinthesand on Jun. 20, 2016

Was excited to fish off the dock. Well you could but you wouldn't catch anything because it's only about a foot deep for about thirty feet to what looks to be a drop off. Walked around to the island only to the same situation. You get a little closer to the drop off on the east side but you still take the chance of snagging on the rocks. Tried walking out to the island. Nope... Bad idea. Sank to my hips in the first four steps off land in what looked like one foot of water. Like Rat Lake... You need a boat to get out to where the fish are found.

Fishing was great over maylong!! All fish were over 17 inches long. That's all you seen was brooders. People caught some small trout but that was only on pickerel rigs or Texas rigs. Whatever you want to call them. I caught 6 and lost 10 . Have your drag set low that they can run or they just pop the hook in the first 10 seconds.

Came out on the 22rd of February. Use micro hooks with meal worms and maggots and you'll have perch and rainbow on all day. Mostly small though, like 6-8" max. Although we did see the odd 2-3' rainbow.

Star Star Star Star Star

by BoBo on Feb. 18, 2013

Went to Phyllis on Feb 16th and caught 6 small rainbows and no Perch in 3 hours but see a ton. I tried close to the dock first and saw none then I went to the island to the right and seen a few perch however on the left side from the boat launch and half way down the lake is where I caught and seen a lot of Trout and perch. I was using shrimp and a small pink hook. Been there twice in the last week and drilled many holes and the best spot to fish at Phyllis is straight across the lake from that Island but please note they were all small. I have heard the bigger trout are around the island but I did not see or catch any in the 2 days I was there. Great place to go if you have kids. Hope this helps. Don't forget to bring shrimp.

200 new fish released in the last couple of days. Some 20# brooders I hear! Anyway it doesn't matter where you fish or what you use people are catching lots of pan friers! I used worms and maggots in 15' of water from the belly boat and had (having) an awesome time.

We caught a bunch of little guys on Friday, 8"-10" or so, but nothing big for us. Sunday was much slower... I got skunked and my wife just caught two around 6"-8" long. However, we did see a couple folks get lucky with big ones. Fts003: It's a pretty small lake. Gas motors aren't allowed, but there were a few inflatables and a little aluminum boat out there using electric trolling motors. We just anchored our canoe in the middle.
