8 Pike in four hours, but didn't have any tags so it was all for fun. Maybe four would have been big enough to keep. Caught a monster of a Pike but the reel jammed and the line snapped. Going to buy a really expensive reel tomorrow.

Went out this morning for a few hours, lake was glass calm. Caught 30-35 walleye and half a dozen pike. Great morning on the lake. The gornment launch is ok but a little steep for reloading. The channel going out to the main lake is quite shallow so be careful.
by zalman on May. 28, 2016
Water levels are up approximately 2 feet from the rain fall over the past 2 weeks.
I was able to use the public launch today with my 620 ranger (heavy fiberglass boat)
Hopefully it will stay up!
We caught 12 walleye and 2 pike. 5 of the walleye were over 50 cm and ranged from 2.5 - 3 lbs. Released them all.
by zalman on May. 1, 2016
It's bad. Down somewhere 3-5 feet from last fall.
There is only 1 usable boat launch on the west end of the lake. The new marina at shadow creek in Joussard should be passable. Maybe the launch at Joussard but there's a sand bar 50 feet out that is partially exposed that makes me nervous...
Shaws point is digging out their main marina right now. When they're done it should be good as well.
I have heard rumors about the east end of the lake being as bad or worse. Has anyone looked at the launch in the "river" yat Slave Lake yet?

Warning Re; Southshore Fishing Adventures
This is a warning about using Southshore Fishing Adventures out of Joussard on the west end of Slave lake.
Over a month ago a group of us (5 guys) booked into 2 of their cabins for this weekend coming up Feb 12/13. We were assured by Ramona, the woman who answered the phone that we were booked, and that they would be happy to have us there. Today (Feb 10) 2 days before our launch date, we get a call from Ramona telling us that the Owner Dean has double booked us and that we were cancelled. No offer of another date, or any other assistance, just a simple, sorry you don't have a booking anymore.
Since the call neither Ramona, nor Dean are willing or able to answer my calls or respond in any way with further explanation as to what if anything will be done to rectify the situation.
They will not get another chance at our business which is too bad as we were hoping to make this a twice a winter annual thing.
Consider yourself warned regarding this business.........

Fished here on Friday and Saturday. Fished friday out on Canyon Creek in 25-35 feet of water and it was very slow right until last light where it picked up a little but not much. Saturday fished at Widewater in 43 feet of water and did much better. Great burbot action during the day, and picked up even more later on where the Eyes joined the party. Met some nice guys in a really nice shack out there. Ice is very thick (25 inches+) and while the snow has melted, there are still places where you can get stuck, saw many people have to be pulled out. Be careful out there

For opening weekend walleye fishing was fair to good with all fishermen I talked to saying they were catching nice fish with fat bellies. Looks like spawning is done as we didn't see any eggs from the catches. Water nice and cold 10C so I was finding fish at 6-8 feet. Best success with jigs and leaches. Jack fish were active as well but not much for size yet. Condition were decent with nice chop for most the weekend.
Till next time

Les. We pulled our shack off on Sunday the 15. There was only 3-4 left out there in joussard. Access was fine by the church. A little rough but still good ice. Watch for the pressure crack. It may have separated more in the last couple days. If you have a quad or sled you could probably get out easier

Fishing could not be worse! Not a single bight while we were in the Joussard fishing villiage. Cabin was left in a brutal state and in dangerous conditions. Our experience with south shore fishing adventure is very different from what others have posted. We have used them before and will never use them again.

Talked to the lady at larsens store in joussard on Saturday and she said the truck access was fine just needed rubber boots due to the melting. Also heard from a friend who used my hut that the bite came in waves and was strongest in the evening. 5 and on type thing. Hope that helps. I always call the store if I'm unsure before I drive up. Hate not having a quad or sled if needed.
by Hookset on Jan. 27, 2015

by Lunkerslayer on Jan. 18, 2015
Great day fishing yesterday. Couldn't find any truck access onto lake at Spruce Point or off range road 100. Had to skidoo out, which is better because too much snow on Lake for a truck and ice is quite rough(13"thick) . Limited out on Walleye, 3 pike, only 1 burbot (which unusual but good). Orange or red jigs seemed best with half a minnow. And also five o black diamonds spoon seems good.

Saw a lot of shacks at wide water last Sunday on our way home from joussard. We had trucks out at shack city in joussard and the huts are a lot further out there. You would think there is a trail at wide water. But that's just a guess. I'm heading up Sunday and only bringing the truck. Hope I don't screw myself. Was good last weekend and it's been warm so hoping it isn't an issue

Pulled the shack onto the lake with some help from some awesome locals. Hut city in Joussard has a decent road pushed through from the trucks this weekend. Needed an extension to find water from the hut floor. More ice than you can shake a stick at. Safe for deisels. Happy fishing

Truck access easy at Joussard. Fishing slower. Still catching.
Heading up today. Wednesday morning. Will let you know on conditions for truck access. As of This past Sunday there was too much warm weather. Quad was fine. Not much for snow just broke through the first 8 inch. Truck would be tough
by iFish Guest on Jan. 21, 2014
Hey guys, has any one been able to drive out on Slave at Joussard with a truck? there is usually a guy in town there that clears the ice road with his snow cat and blade? Anyone know or been out there?

Can someone please help me out with names and numbers of people who are renting out ice-fishing shacks at driftpile/big grassy.Would be greatly appreciated! :)
Fished Sunday and Monday, caught one walleye. Lost count on burbot, the little buggers ate up five tubs of minnows. Ice surface getting hard, no issues with rino and quads. Fished mostly close to the bay at Assineau. High winds on Sunday made it a challenge. Still lots of fun.

Can someone help me out with a access point to get on the ice at Joussard. Will have a quad with me possibly a sled.

Fishing big grassy! Been hitting great walleye and road is like a highway. I have a personal shack I would consider renting out. 12 volt,110 if u have a generator, indoor toilet, three fishing holes and deisle heat so no chopping wood and waking up cold in the middle of the night. Queen bed as well as a sleep able bench. Call 780296 5483

Looking to drive up from edmonton. Don't have a sled just a quad. I assume the snow is too deep for quad or truck. Anybody having any luck walking distance from shore. Don't want to waste my time driving all the way up for the day.

Can anybody tell me where the perch are went fishing last weekend with my best friend lots of walleye and jack spent one day looking for perch didn't find any
by Dickweed on Aug. 12, 2013
Im not trying to be the reg/fishing police, I just posted the previous post to save any hassels/headaches/dollars. To any fishermen out there. I wasnt trying to rude or anything.
Last years regulations say's 1 Walleye over 43cm.. However there are reg changes every year and the 2013 regs I have 1 copy in my boat 1 in truck console. My advice to you is take 5 mins and get a current set of regs so you know what the current laws are that way you know whats legal and not have to worry about getting in trouble. Every fisherman should be grabbing a copy of the regs when buying there licences.
