Check the regs, do not harvest pike. Buck lake is now zero (0) pike limit. This app needs updating.

I agree about the whites. I haven't seen a white caught here in 4 years.

Fishing east side for white fish, only seeing lings. Very slow today, I fear the whites were netted out to the point of extinction in this lake.

Good places to get onto Lake? Is it drivable now or is the snow too deep and slushy?

I was ice fishing here Jan 4-7 and caught about 10-20 per day mostly walleye with two keepers. On west side of lake in about 8 - 10 feet of water just off weed beds using jigs with minnow. Best time 3:30 - 5:30 PM.

Was I the only one who had a super slow day? Brutal gushed north side from campground/boat launch to Calhoun bay and I caught one pike. Saw 1 walleye. Nothing else.

Hey guys was gunna head out how's the fishin been? Was out for a week straight a couple weeks ago. Fishing was very slow.

Star Star Star Star Star

by Headstrong on Jan. 3, 2018

Was out on New Year's Day. Slow go. But first thing in the morning it was -29 and by the afternoon it was a balmy -8. The ice was making a ton of noise, cracking and cringing constantly. The crazy weather change may have caused the loud ice noises, might of freaked the fish as much as it did us! Ice was thick though, 18%u201D all North areas of the lake. Government campground on north end boat launch like a highway, easy access onto lake. Water very clear, sight down holes easy to see your set up. Great vision on cameras. Just not a lot of luck catching that day, but still a great day on the lake. Anybody have better luck on the south end of the lake?

Glad your getting some perch Headwrong. They seem to elude me and anyone I've ever talked to. The eyes on the other hand are plentiful. Found a little hidden rockpile the other day and got a few Dandys. Biggest 6 9oz. Just drop shottin the structure.

Haven't been on here in a while. Been out to Buck every weekend. Two or three guys in the boat and have managed to get a keeper each at least each day. Last Saturday, two guys in boat, two caught at 53cm and two caught at 52 cm. lots of 46-49 as well. Taking minnows during the day. I switch to slip bobber and worm early mornings or late evenings. One perch on this method as well, nice fat 13" plugger. Spending this weekend hunting perch

AJFisher- there is a launch in the village- right beside the marine shop. Should be no problem launching there. As for truck and trailer parking, there is a bit of room but it depends on how early you are, kinda first come first serve. The north gov campground launch is shallow for a bigger boat. I don't launch my fishing boat in the village, but I do launch my wakeboard boat in the village as it's a V drive and our launch in our development seems to not be as deep as the village launch.

Can anyone tell me where a good spot to launch a full size boat would be? The north launch at the campground looks too shallow, Calhoun seem to be hand launch only. Is there a launch right in town? If so, is there parking for vehicle and trailer? Thanks

Fantastic Walleye fishing last weekend at Buck! Friday and Saturday were steady, keeper sizes included. But a ton of little guys off my usual spot. Sunday morning moved to a new hole, crazy morning. Two guys in the boat, 47 eyes and two slough sharks in less than three hours. First fish of the day for me was a 53 cm eye... very fat and healthy... off colour though, no yellow or green, basically straight silver, very odd looking. Then caught a bunch more the same colour.. until the pike came. Eyes slowed down while the pike were there. Then many more Eye, but back to normal colouring. Was a trippy morning! Great fishing though with both lines reeling in fish at the same time on numerous occasions. That hole produces mostly 47-50 cm without the tiny guys biting, was super exciting! Looking forward to the long weekend.

by Fishing2016 on Jul. 29, 2017 Is there fishing off the shore or dock? I have seen people fishing from main boat launch area in the village. Also, the bridge over The creek in the village has some good fishing as well. The gov campground on the north end you cannot fishing with 25 m of the weir, but the outlet that leaves the lake there (buck lake creek) has plenty of pike and walleye in it which I fly fish and bottom fish in when I'm not out in the boat. It's not hard hiking at all and plenty of sight fishing. Fly for the slough sharks and minnows/leeches for the Eyes. I am in a community on the north that has a marina and private boat launch, they are not very acceptable to people who don't own lots using the piers or shores for fishing. There are a few communities like that, just a heads up for ya bud. Cheers

Spending 9 days at Buck, came out on Friday. My neighbor and his buddies got four keepers and had a fish fry going when I pulled up. Great tasting walleye. So far I have hit quite a few walleye and surprising no pike at all. Last night a nice big eye, 5.5 lbs and a gorgeous fish. Let him go so he can grow and I'll get him another time. They seem to be more aggressive this week even in the crazy hot weather. Week is supposed to average 25* so I look forward to a nice week on the lake. Still using either a pickerel rig or a minnow jig head. Haven't rolled yet at all. Too bad you can't post pics here, was a nice fish last night.

Yes I did call in with some license plates. I've been told it's being handled. So hopefully this will help stop this from happening anymore

Star Star Star Star Star

by Headstrong on Jul. 3, 2017

BiggieB- totally agreed. Justin, need to report it if you have any of the above (actually below) info. All too many are taking non legal limit fish and getting away with it. They don't seem to care that doing that wreaks havoc on the lake walleye population, which in turn wreaks havoc on people fishing by the rules. They probably didn't have lic either! On another note, the weekend was slow for us on the buck... hot mornings early enough to drive them deep I guess. Or, just no luck on our side. Did grab some Eye, but all under 47. The creek was again a ton of fun, the challenge being the eye hiding in the hard to reach places. All in all, a slow weekend of fishing is still better than a great day a work!

Justin i hope you called report a poacher, call in with any and all information you can including license plate and vehicle description, as well as physical description of the people involved... if charges are laid you will be paid by report a poacher for your services... usually 200$ a fish
