Bread paste bait is the secret to catching carp, darn the secret is out! Nothing fancy, the trout will take also if it tastes good but more for carp. Use a pencil bobber vs round bobber, can detect more bites and set the hook after a few or more nibbles, not to soon. Put weight on fish hook (plummer) to find water depth, adjust bobber up & down, when weight is off the hook, when you put the bait on it should be resting at the bottom of pond or thereof right where the carp are bottom feeding. Use a size 12 hook, the smaller the better.

They normally target carp, their bait catches carp as I have done, carp no limit as they are a pest. The more fished out the better.

Went out a couple days ago around dusk. Fished for a couple hours. Caught a 2inch Prussian carp and took it out of the water. No trout though. The area is pretty nice just wish the fishing was better.

Pretty slow, can't even get a carp to bite. There is also NO CHUMMING allowed which means no you can't throw anything in water to attract fish near you. There is a guy with green and white striped umbrella. He was chumming and I told him that is not allowed. Probably playing 'No speakaenglish' He moved to a different spot on south end further away and threw alot more in water again. Hope fish & wildlife can nail him.

CAPS ARE TO BE USED FOR THE FIRST LETTER OF A SENTENCE, THAT IS WHAT WE DO IN CANADA. Danny W was just sharing his opinion and all he asked was why we don't like carp? Some people like carp and others don't. There are BIG carp in Saskatchewan like they have in England and they enjoy fishing them too!!

Not only do they ruin the ecosystem they also don't get really big. They're basically goldfish. Biggest I've seen was probably a little over a pound.

by Jayjayjay on Nov. 5, 2016

I tried but it won't work. It's from a lake called Blood Indian creek reservoir

Carp ruin the environment for other fish here in Canada Danny. The other fish numbers go wayyyy down. We don't not like carp here. I have a picture of another lake and it says if you catch carp " Catch then and Kill them ".

Why do you guys hate carp? Im from england and we have huge carp fisharies where there are big club competitions. They grow huge and fight like hell and they dont even bother the outher types of fish. Australia also dont do carp either

Don't bother, shallow, full of weeds and muddy brown smelly water. Only very small fish in here and shores are lined with people who don't have a clue.

I'm headed up there on Sunday I will be sure to try and get a few on a stringer. Only good Prussian carp is a dead one

by Nviro on May. 9, 2016

Cornmeal works too. Most of them are tiny but the odd one is 6 or 7 inches. They'll choke the trout out eventually. There are a few other potholes in the area with them too.

by CaptSumTingWong on May. 8, 2016

If there are that many up there I'll drop by and catch and kill them. This wasn't a problem until recently.

by AlbertakidFishing on May. 8, 2016

Ab Trouter these are around 1-4 inch carp! not suckers actual asian carp. they like flour under a bobber. find a tree branch in a water they hide under that! caught one on a small spinner too!

Star Star Star Star Star

by ab trouter on May. 8, 2016

nviro do you mean suckers or actual carp? It would be cool to catch some carp in Alberta.

Star Star Star Star Star

by AlbertakidFishing on May. 7, 2016

I can agree on both ways! Using bait here works also but not using bait caught me more fish. But there would be a sign up saying has to be more than 6 inches to keep if there was a rule. there isn't so the people that are saying stuff just stop theres no point your just whining. The people that are keeping more than 5 rainbow or brown trout is illegal. But there is also a lot of carp in here and i mean a lot and today i went fishing to Dewitts the people beside us caught 82 carp. The conservation officers tell us to kill every single one you catch. Yes it is hard for all the asians or different culture fisherman that come to fish and do not read the regulations properly us canadians should go and just give them a little rundown and if it keeps happening call fish and wildlife. But these ponds are stocked for people to keep fish, i always do catch and release but stop hating on the people that keep 5 fish because there allowed

Star Star Star Star Star

by Nviro on May. 3, 2016

They might be keeping carp, there's tones of them in here and every one that gets taken out and killed is a good thing.

Star Star Star Star Star

by CGS420 on May. 3, 2016

I don't ever fish with bait here, always catch lots! Always release them, because what is the point in keeping a 6 inch fish? I see guys set up here with their buckets, and pull tiny little fish in all day and keep way more than 5!! It's brutal, grown men keeping little fish like that, these little ponds are fun, but when all the fish disappear so early cause they can't let them grow is sad. And no fun. Maybe the grown men who want to " actually" fish should learn to speak English and read the max. 5 fish rule, maybe go somewhere where it's actually challenging to fish. Don't think I'm going to be comin back here and I'm definitely calling fish n feathers to come and hopefully take care of these losers who keep more than the limit because it happens all the time here

Star Star Star Star Star

by MrFishMaster on May. 2, 2016

Where does it say that stocked fish at these ponds say they are 'catch and release' ? Are you making up rules? And are you fly fishing? Most people fish with bait and many die anyways because of these. Alberta fishery said you can take home 5, any size. They mean it. Otherwise they would put in a lower limit, size restriction, or state it is catch and release. Learn to read please.
