Has anyone gone fishing in this pond? How are the fish there this year? Wondering if there would be a bite with a spinner. And if there is, would you eat the fish in this pond?

I was here last Friday when we got all that rain. Small trout but fun none the less! Nothing on the spin cast rod. But when I used the fly rod they went fr it every second cast! Was using a grey nymph.

Hopefully this was just a isolated instance, unfortunately some lakes that started out as trout lakes have been taken over by pike and/or perch either naturally or by illegally intruduced. I came name six just from the top of my head (cow lake, hendersons, stonehill, crawling, hasse, brooks aqueduct pond) and I am sure there is many more. I would also like to point out this lake does produce lots of nice size rainbows and please limit your catch to keep it that way. One other question to ask yourself is how did suckers get in there, someone using sucker minnows as bait?, through the canal?

Whilst I don't disbelieve that a big pike has been caught in this lake. I have fished this lake for the last week every day Today there was about 8 people fishing most of the day and there were plenty of trout and suckers being caught but no pike! I was just trying to point out that if you want to fish for pike there are better options than this lake. I again spoke with two High River residents who use this lake all the time. One was a fly fisher and the other was using a sinker and both said pike are unusual in this water. I'm sorry if your unhappy with my lake report but I'm just trying to be honest and stating what I have seen and been told to try and help other anglers make an informed decision as to whether or not to visit this nice lake.

To the last comment I have seen the video and it is definetely Emerson lake in high river and is a monster pike, the gentleman who caught this originally thought he had a large trout as it pulled his fly line well into his backing, I will ask them to post this video on you tube. The gentleman who caught this fish has been fly fishing for over fifty years and played this fish perfectly.

Spoke to people who had fished this lake for 10 years and never seen pike in the lake but lots of pike in the canal next to the lake! Also seen lots of trout jumping. I hope this helps but we're small. Good luck
