by Alberta_flyfisher on Jul. 25, 2016
Fished in the float tube for 3 hours, had 6 bites. Not much rising, the lake was dead tonight. The biggest fish I saw rise was 10". To say it was slow was an understatement. I fished a sink tip, tried probably 15 different types. Nothing seemed to work. They were rising, taking a caddis like fly size about 28. But with little rising, I didn't bother trying to dry fly. Shore anglers weren't doing any better.
by Headstrong on Jul. 17, 2016
Belly boats and fly rods today.
Started early and fished whole morning. Lots of fish, nothing bigger than 14" though. But very good action. Fish were taking to black leech type flies or green dragon flies.
A good day of fishing.

Got a very unexpected but very exciting 22 inch rainbow yesterday fishing from shore on south side of lake. Usually only pull the little 7-10in guys out of this lake. Power bait always works well.

by Couldn't catch a cold fishguy on May. 29, 2016
I guess I should have said a small boat or inflatable. There isn't a boat launch there so don't take anything that you can't carry.
Salters lake was just stocked with 7500 12" rainbows. The shore is a little soft though. So I would get there early to get a spot on the dock. Or take a boat. No gas motors. Lots of people are catching on flys and small spoons/spinners. I use a pickerel rig and white marshmallows.Star lake can be good too, lots of room off shore. The trout seem fussy there though. I've heard of 14/16" coming out of there. 13"was my biggest.
by Kefka on May. 29, 2016
All is well now and everything is understood. Been to the twice already after getting all the info in order. I landed a few nice rainbows and there's no doubt in my mind that there are some lunkers in the lake. Anyone have any recommendations for other lakes for trout fishing? East pit lake is is worth the time that's for sure.
by Couldn't catch a cold fishguy on May. 28, 2016
Great,thanks for the info.
by fisherman77 on May. 28, 2016
No, you can't get boat in. You have to hike in about 1 Km.
by Couldn't catch a cold fishguy on May. 27, 2016
Can anyone tell me if there are good spots to fish from the shore? Or do you need a boat?
by BiggieB on May. 27, 2016
I apologize NorthernYaker your right i am wrong on the tiger trout I miss recalled it for East Twin lake!
by petetherocker on May. 27, 2016
as NorthernYaker has said:
GET, READ AND UNDERSTAND THE REGS..
Some might be confused as to the stocking.
RNBT is 'Rainbow'
CLCL is the 'strain' of Rainbow, in this case it means Campbell Lake, as shown in the bottom of the stocking summary. Go to the mywildalberta.com website and you can download the stocking reports going back as far as 2009 and there is no other trout species stocked in East Pit apart from rainbows.
by NorthernYaker on May. 27, 2016
No tigers or cutthroats in East pit....
As we already said get, read, and understand the regs...
I've never personally fished east pit and even i know they don't stock it with Cut throat, if you mean rainbows, and tiger trout then yes they do stock the lake with all of those two, any others are accidental and its a 5 trout limit...
If people read the fancy regulations that come with your license when you purchase it this type of confusion/question wouldn't happen....JUST SAYING!
by Kefka on May. 26, 2016
It was just a question man. No need to get so sore about it lol. I'm new to the province and was just curious about size restrictions for trout. And by the way man there's cutthroats in the lake. By the sounds of it you're not havin much luck lol.
by NorthernYaker on May. 24, 2016
No cutthroats in the lake...I could answer bit the answer in IN THE REGS...and it's super easy to find, I suggest you getvu copy before you touch your fishing rod again...
by Kefka on May. 23, 2016
What are the size limits for rainbows and cutthroats in the lake?

by Newfie69 on Aug. 16, 2015
Had a decent evening fishing last night. Myself and a buddy landed 1 each plus had lots of hits just as the sun was going down. First time evening fishing here and it was the most action I had seen also. Not big fish but was still fun if you are looking to catch and release.

Not many risers .Saw a school of about 8 in the shallows on the east end but spooked them. Saw one other person bring one in . I left around 10, it was already over 20 degrees outside .

Which part of the lake? If you don't mind saying?
Sunday there was a bit of action, fished from 6 to 9pm only landed one @ 17.5 inches on a black/gold spinner. Released to fight another fisherman. Few more bites on a bobber and powerbait. Seen a nice leap in the middle of the lake, had to be a 20 inch and a good foot out of water!

Fished from 8AM to noon on June 7th. Managed 7 smaller bows on a blue/pink and silver BlueFox spinner. There was a younger guy there who had landed 20+ using small red-devil and five-of-diamond spoons, of all things. Great morning overall, nice quiet little lake.
