Very poor fishing not a bit did they stock it with trout this year

by Tipsy-up on Jun. 28, 2017

I know they stocked it but last month has been tough. Very few people catching. Not sure why the fish are so finnicky right now!

Been here for a few hours, there's ppl fishing but haven't seen anyone with a fish yet. Alberta relm page says it's been stocked. So I dunno what to say. I haven't caught anything yet, but nice to get out.

by NorthernYaker on May. 23, 2016

Only some lakes are all female triploid, and even then some it one batch of all female triploids and the next batch is a mixed bag...look at a stocking report and quit trying to sound intelligent , however all are triploid (sterile)

Trout don't spawn in our pothole lakes. They are all female. But there are perch in there that do. Crawfish are delicious. I have a trap on the way.

Was out on Sunday with the girlfriends dad . Many fish were rising . Had 4 on , landed 3 and had a few refusals on a dry fly. May have had more luck if I was not helping the gf's father. Will bring waders next time.

They also stocked the lake with 9000 fish last year. 3000 in may, June,& September. Nice try

Star Star Star Star Star

by Cajed1 on Apr. 20, 2013

Gotta learn to read the regs better then. Pg.8 Alberta's fish stocking program. Big bold print "the harvest of game fish species other than trout from stocked trout waters is not permitted. " If you can't find heritage lake it's listed here under watershed PP2. Ignorance can be bliss... I know...

Star Star Star Star Star

by Pig Perch on Apr. 19, 2013

I didn't see anything in the regulations to suggest you can't keep Perch out of Heritage. Many of the perch however, have tumour viruses, a harmless cauliflower growth on the skin, that doesn't affect the flesh, the fish are still fine for consumption. My understanding is that the lake hasn't been stocked with trout for consecutive years now and is very likely close to being fished out!

We have not been here for a couple of years. Dropped a line today for a couple hours... No bites and did not see any fish. Used to be a local hot spot.... I am assuming that it got overfished. Btw, seems like the regulations say you can not keep any perch out of that lake.

Hey drive past the overpass today and seen a lot of tents out. Was wondering if the fishing is good and what areas the best to fish?

Star Star Star Star Star

by Colton8888 on Dec. 27, 2012

I was out today on the east side fishing depths of 16 feet deep, not a bite. Had the fishing camera out and seen nothing. Wish there was more perch in that lake.

by Pafor on Dec. 26, 2012

I was doing good by the boat launch in November. But the last couple time, I got nothing. I'm not sure where they went. Maybe try deeper.

Star Star Star Star Star

by Pafor on Nov. 19, 2012

To my surprise, ice was 7.5 inches already. Didn't take long before I had my limit of 5 rainbow. Biggest i caught was 49.5 cm. I saw much bigger down the hole.

by Papirus on Sep. 23, 2012

I've been catching fish at this spot last winter and summer, mostly small but sometimes big ones too, biggest i caught it was 43cm....
