7%u201D of fresh snow on 4/20 Had a blast running around from tip up to tip up. Tons of hits. Landed prolly a dozen of the fall stockers. All released for another day. Ice still over 24%u201D thick.

Any info on ice conditions would be much appreciated please

They stock about 10,000 rainbows in it every year. There are supposedly some naturally reproducing brookies in there as well, though I've never caught one. Last time I was there, a dock was there. Boreal forest around the lake so limited shore fishing, except around the dock/launch

Just wanted to know what do they stock and how it is to shore fish heading here for the first time this weekend ! Thanks

Fished there for two days two weeks ago, fishing from kayak, fly and spinners, one bite in two days. 2.5lbs Rainbow. Fishing very slow and loads of bugs in camp

Back again for another adventure. Still winter in these parts. Steady fish averaged one an hour on the ice missed just as many. Nothin to brag about size wise. Back this summer. Tight lines !!

Spent 5 days, fishing very slow. Did manage to catch a few small ones and one about 2 lbs. This lake is much better in June and July

21" is what I measured today, about 10 trucks on the lake

by Spanky420 on Jan. 5, 2016
4 of us fished for 5 hrs yesterday and landed 5 missed a few more. Ice is 14-18" all over the lake. A bad day fishin is better than a good day a work.

Has anyone been out fishing at Fairfax in the last couple of weeks?
by Alco on Sep. 7, 2014
Trolled wet flies on Labour Day weekend. Slower fishing than in early summer but larger average size of about 1 1/2 to 2 pounds. Our biggest was 4 pounds on a leach pattern.
by Alco on Aug. 24, 2014
Trolled flies in both June and July this summer with good results. Size ranged from 1 to 3 lbs. Saw sime caught on a Willowleaf too. Beautiful little lake.

It doesn't winter kill. And as far as I'm concerned it is the best trout lake around this area for fishing piriod. Beautiful camp ground to. There not as plentiful as they were 40 years ago, but you can still catch the bigger fish there aswell.

I take a boat there regularly. Troll up and down or sit and cast both work well. Ramp is pretty basic (easy access but not paved). Shore is over grown and tough to cast from. I've seen some decent fishing from the dock. If you go tell us how you fared.

by Rstone on May. 7, 2013
Is it big enough to take a boat in? How's the fishing from shore?

by Truecanuck on May. 6, 2013
You can drive there in a car. Easy access

by Rstone on May. 6, 2013
How hard is it to get into this lake? Can you drive a truck to it?

by Gregthefisherman on Jan. 27, 2013
its a winter road in but a steep hill leaving so have 4*4 or you'll be paying an expensive tow bill, fishing is good lots of small ones though

by Pig Perch on Jan. 19, 2013
I've never ice fished Fairfax, in fact I haven't fished it in years. My dad introduced us to this lake over 40 years ago, at that time both Rainbow and Brooke trout were both large and abundant.

by Therealheysus on Jan. 6, 2013
Anyone know if this lake is accessible in the winter and ice conditions if so??

by Mcd on Jul. 7, 2012
Has anyone fished Fairfax this year? Heard it had winter kill in 2011...thinking of heading there next week or so. My wife caught a 5 pounder there in 2010.
