Went out there last weekend to see if they put up signs. Took me about half an hour to find the 8x12 piece of paper pinned on the the cook house which you'd only see in the way of the lake if you knew to look for a sign. Went and try my luck anyway. Drilled a few holes around the lake to check with the camera. Most holes I checked had perch down below. Caught a few but never kept any. Just don't understand why all of a sudden they decide to close this lake because of summer kill or winter kill for that matter. I've never heard of this in the past. I've actually heard of them opening up catch limits for wallet and pike on a lake after a big winter kill here in the same area. The lake still has a catch limit on it for the past few years yet i haven't heard of anyone ever catching a walleye there again.

Hi I just wrote a comment about Stoney (siler) lake being still open for harvest but I just called f/w in Bonnyville and the girl told me that it is open only for catch and release. Please Disrecard my first comment. The phone # in Bonnyville is 780-826-3142 thank you.

by Piercey on Jan. 13, 2017

I read a lot of comments on Stoney (siler) lake being closed do to summer kill but I was just talking to f/w and the girl told me that it wasn't closed. U have read the refs in the 2016 issue. I saw the dead fish on the shore this summer just not sure of the date. The phone that I called is 1-403-340-1542 if anyone else want to call

Good people need to fish there, put fish back and remind others to do the same. If they don't listen report them, receive $250 for your trouble and buy a new ice flasher. F&W can't be everywhere

Funny how people can't stay away , the lake was summer killed real bad and yet the vulchers are there again , stay away and let the lake come back !!!!!!!!! And it's true zero limit in affect so I hope anyone that keeps get caught !!!!

by Mikey1781 on Jan. 4, 2017

Ya i told the woman that they better get more signs up cause there are alot of oldtimers that fish that lake dont use the internet or have fancy phones. So they need more then one sign( that wasnt there) around the lake for these guys. But yes no more fishing it till it reopens.

Star Star Star Star Star

by Reel Crazy on Jan. 3, 2017

Well, what a pathetic job of informing the public about the closure. What about all those that don't or can't access the internet. And, how about not even spelling the name of the lake correctly. If anyone gets fined or charged, they better get off with this blunder!!! On that note, I will not be fishing Stoney until it re-opens.

by Sloughshark87 on Jan. 3, 2017

Im telling you i called this morning. They reassured me 0 is the limit. Follow the regs till march if you want but i pity your bank account if you get caught.

by Mikey1781 on Jan. 3, 2017

I called fish and wildlife and yes it is a 0 limit. But like i told them u i didnt see any signs posted. That lake has alot of old people that fish there that dont use the internet so they need to post more signs. Lots of people still fishing this lake and taking fish due to not seeing the signs.

They changed it on sept 16 2016 they make the regulations in January of 2016 of course it still says you can their not going to update it the fact is it summerkilled and it since has been put to zero limit as of September 16 2016 if your so concerned about it call f&w yourself and hear it from them yourself obviously you don't believe anybody on here

Star Star Star Star Star

by Mikey1781 on Jan. 2, 2017

The actual regulations from this year still has it as 10 perch. Someone needs to get ahold of fish and wildlife to get this confirmed.

by N83 on Jan. 1, 2017

Zero limit , this site is from 2014 and say " refer to newest regulations" you are not allowed to keep any fish

Well, I see the comment on Mywild, however, it says Stony Lake. So, that's not Stoney (Siler) Lake. Until they fix that, no one should get fines. Also, didn't see any signs and it should be in the online regulations as a change, like they have in red for Pigeon and Jackfish. I just emailed ESRD about the issue.

Consider your in laws lucky then bc if a warden came 20 fish over possession is no easy fine to pay

Read on mywildalberta, click fishing then click regulations and the on the left click stoney lake and u will see that it has been changed to a 0 retention as of September...if that's not enough call your local f&w officer if you don't believe it

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 30, 2016

And i just read the regs again and there is nothing about a change on this lake. Still says 10.

Star Star Star Star Star

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 30, 2016

There are no posts around the lake stating its 0 limit. No fish cops around and my in laws live in the area and go here all the time. There was a very big summer kill but there are still perch being caught. We were there today and only kept 4 due to them not biting. But there are no signs at the one entry point on this lake.

Star Star Star Star Star

by T-man on Dec. 30, 2016

It is true... go to mywildalberta.com under regulations/ Stoney lake it says it's been changed to zero limit and there has been signage at various access point on the lake to inform public

Star Star Star Star Star

by Reel Crazy on Dec. 30, 2016

Sure isn't closed, regs still say 10 Perch in case anyone was wondering about the false post below. I was there on Wednesday and it hasn't summer killed either as the guys fishing next to us were seeing tons of fish on the camera but they just were not very interested. We still managed 20 keepers between the 3 of us. People fishing around us had similar luck. I just don't like when ppl make false posts. How about just don't post at all. Tight lines everyone!

Star Star Star Star Star

Really bad summer kill this year due to the blue algae. Inlaws should be heading out to try soon and see what its like now. Hopefully its still not bad cause this lake was so awesome for a good day of perch fishing.

Slav98 I use a tiny jig with meal worm or maggots. About 10-13 feet of water. Took me a while to find them but once I did they were bitting fairly steady. Had throw back lots of littler ones also.

Slower perch fishing this weekend but managed to get a nice limit of perch 10-12 inches.

Went out a couple of time at the end of the season. Looked around with my camera in a few different hole and seen plenty of perch. I would say some had up to 30 perch that I could see at one time and some fairly good size ones as well. Caught my limit both times within 15-20 minutes. I would say this lake is doing great.

Star Star Star Star Star

by Ice fisherman on Apr. 6, 2016

To all the people who went and caught multiple limits every weekend , Thanks for ruining a perfect little lake and I hope you are happy with yourselves . More than once I heard people bragging about slaughtering all weekend ? So you need that many in your deep freeze ? Last time I checked we have rules and regulations in this province . Rant over !!!

Laurier is the same. Funny how two lakes were wiped out in the same area in the same year. I found another good perch lake but even there I seen some guy pulling a whole 5 gallon bucket of perch out of lake.

Star Star Star Star Star

The perch are near gone, summers on the way and im sure the pike will be wiped out as well. Good work people.

by Wall-eyes on Mar. 25, 2016

Yep fish it out people !!!!!!!! Kill another lake for a few years.

by Fish guru on Mar. 15, 2016

It's understandable there is less fish being caught, especially when you see 30 to 40 trucks on the ice and everyone is limiting out. You can't expect the lake to produce an endless supply of fish. Everyone takes and not many are returned!!

It's too bad we have idiots who drive like idiots, they weaken the ice and do not think about the safety of others. There are many families who are out fishing for fun. They have to think about them. As far as the morons who limit out day after day, they are the ones who kill a lake. Went fishing today with my son, caught about 10 walleye, and 7 pike, all very nice. We put everyone of those fish back in. It's not always about having a bragging story to tell about limiting out. My son knows about preserving for the future and real respect for our lakes. We practice what we preach. Not like the morons who race across lakes to get their limit home to the freezer only to come back the next day! Sad, sad, sad!!

Star Star Star Star Star

by scottie78 on Dec. 31, 2015

What bait seems tobe working the best last couple days? I'm an kinda maybe thinking its time to set some signs out for people to remind them to not drive like a di##.. serious.. I totaly understand you are excited to get out there. but an extra 5 minutes is not going to kill ya...if anything make it better for you and other people so you don't scare the fish away....!!!^^ ...... cheers everyone happy new years... have a great time fishing...... all the best to everyone on the new year. hope our oil feild families all start to see a better rebound this comming year. 👍

by Fisher 5 on Dec. 31, 2015

I agree I was out yesterday and people need to clean up and start driving proper , I also agree on take your limit and that's the day, I only caught 7 and was happy with that ,it was a meal, I would like a spot for my kids kids to fish one day and we all know it will not happen, with the poachers out there

I have been watching for years the abuse the littering and excessive stupid drivers. since when do most of the people stop at there limit._I have seen dozens of people leave and then come back only to limit out again sometimes multiple times a day .Where are the wildlife officials and when are they going to remove the trucks at the bottom of the lake, when they have leaked out all the fuel and battery acid. does our so called environment officials really give a hoot or are they just taking the easy out and just hanging out at bellveve and kehewin lakes. _The abuses I"ve seen over the last 5 years have been truly sickening and I am sure buy now with the hundreds of vehicles and the pollution they__ bring the fish are likely full of mercury. If you cannot respect the environment and the law please stay home and do not teach your children your bad habits

Star Star Star Star Star

Actually this app was made for Fishing. Part of Fishing is Conservation of the Resource. Multiple Lakes have multiple comments about conservation and open dialogue about how to conserve this resource for us all to enjoy. Beaver's actions are those of one who does not show any regard to the welfare of the lake and shared resource we all enjoy. Report me if feel I am out of line but that does not change the fact that limiting out everyday not acceptable to anyone who cares about our fisheries and those action contribute the stricter rules we deal with in this province and poor quality of our fisheries.

by Chiefwackabuck on Dec. 18, 2015

Thanks for the update beaver86. This app was made for updates, comments and feedback to help out other anglers. Maybe those other two guys should not use this app if they don't like the info that gets shared on here.

Fishing was slow. Lake is weedy. Tough to troll in 7-8 feet water and not get caught in weeds
