Ice Report: 13 in
We followed the path onto the lake. We didn't venture off as 13" is about all the ice we could find.
by Lee H on Nov. 21, 2018
Has anyone been out to check the ice yet ?

by scottie78 on Jan. 14, 2018
Can anyone tell me about these white spots on the perch. Kinda looks like infection

by Perchman200 on Jan. 12, 2018
Nice limit today. A good 3/4 pound average

Ice Report: 24 in
Was out for about 4 hours. Didn't catch anything today.

by Guest223 on Dec. 27, 2017
Tried fishing here today where we used to always catch for many of years but not a single fish was seen on camera. What a shame that summer kill did to this fishery,

by Everestar on Nov. 20, 2017
Was out yesterday, about 5" of ice and caught about 10 little perch in about 3 hours. Nothing bigger then 6''. was a fun first hardwater fish but I think the Lake still has some recovering to do.

Is Stoney Lake Closed For Fishing this year? Just heard some rumors want to make sure they are true.

by Perchman200 on Jan. 13, 2017
Went out there last weekend to see if they put up signs. Took me about half an hour to find the 8x12 piece of paper pinned on the the cook house which you'd only see in the way of the lake if you knew to look for a sign. Went and try my luck anyway. Drilled a few holes around the lake to check with the camera. Most holes I checked had perch down below. Caught a few but never kept any. Just don't understand why all of a sudden they decide to close this lake because of summer kill or winter kill for that matter. I've never heard of this in the past. I've actually heard of them opening up catch limits for wallet and pike on a lake after a big winter kill here in the same area. The lake still has a catch limit on it for the past few years yet i haven't heard of anyone ever catching a walleye there again.

Hi I just wrote a comment about Stoney (siler) lake being still open for harvest but I just called f/w in Bonnyville and the girl told me that it is open only for catch and release. Please Disrecard my first comment. The phone # in Bonnyville is 780-826-3142 thank you.
by Piercey on Jan. 13, 2017
I read a lot of comments on Stoney (siler) lake being closed do to summer kill but I was just talking to f/w and the girl told me that it wasn't closed. U have read the refs in the 2016 issue. I saw the dead fish on the shore this summer just not sure of the date. The phone that I called is 1-403-340-1542 if anyone else want to call

Good people need to fish there, put fish back and remind others to do the same. If they don't listen report them, receive $250 for your trouble and buy a new ice flasher. F&W can't be everywhere

by Ice fisherman on Jan. 13, 2017
Funny how people can't stay away , the lake was summer killed real bad and yet the vulchers are there again , stay away and let the lake come back !!!!!!!!! And it's true zero limit in affect so I hope anyone that keeps get caught !!!!

by Mikey1781 on Jan. 4, 2017
Ya i told the woman that they better get more signs up cause there are alot of oldtimers that fish that lake dont use the internet or have fancy phones. So they need more then one sign( that wasnt there) around the lake for these guys. But yes no more fishing it till it reopens.

by Reel Crazy on Jan. 3, 2017
Well, what a pathetic job of informing the public about the closure. What about all those that don't or can't access the internet. And, how about not even spelling the name of the lake correctly. If anyone gets fined or charged, they better get off with this blunder!!! On that note, I will not be fishing Stoney until it re-opens.
by Sloughshark87 on Jan. 3, 2017
Im telling you i called this morning. They reassured me 0 is the limit. Follow the regs till march if you want but i pity your bank account if you get caught.

by Mikey1781 on Jan. 3, 2017
I called fish and wildlife and yes it is a 0 limit. But like i told them u i didnt see any signs posted. That lake has alot of old people that fish there that dont use the internet so they need to post more signs. Lots of people still fishing this lake and taking fish due to not seeing the signs.

by Redneckfish on Jan. 3, 2017
Just called fish and game and there is a 0 limit on the lake regs might change april 1 but until then it is 0 limit on everything

by T-man on Jan. 2, 2017
They changed it on sept 16 2016 they make the regulations in January of 2016 of course it still says you can their not going to update it the fact is it summerkilled and it since has been put to zero limit as of September 16 2016 if your so concerned about it call f&w yourself and hear it from them yourself obviously you don't believe anybody on here

by Mikey1781 on Jan. 2, 2017
The actual regulations from this year still has it as 10 perch. Someone needs to get ahold of fish and wildlife to get this confirmed.
by N83 on Jan. 1, 2017
Zero limit , this site is from 2014 and say " refer to newest regulations" you are not allowed to keep any fish

Only went out 12:30 till 3:30. 11 perch. No bigger than 6"

by Perchman200 on Dec. 31, 2016
No signs and there are plenty of perch. Even caught a legal pike!

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 31, 2016
Well if anyone gets ahold of Fish and Wildlife can u please keep updated on this lake. Thanks.

by Reel Crazy on Dec. 31, 2016
Well, I see the comment on Mywild, however, it says Stony Lake. So, that's not Stoney (Siler) Lake. Until they fix that, no one should get fines. Also, didn't see any signs and it should be in the online regulations as a change, like they have in red for Pigeon and Jackfish. I just emailed ESRD about the issue.

by T-man on Dec. 30, 2016
Consider your in laws lucky then bc if a warden came 20 fish over possession is no easy fine to pay

by Brad0420 on Dec. 30, 2016
_Stony Lake__Fishing__Catch and Release Regulation Placed on Stony Lake__Over the summer Stony lake experienced a significant summer kill. Conservation measures are needed in order to allow fish populations to recove. A zero limit catch limit has been put in place to address this need.__Signage has been placed at various access points along the lake to notify public about the regulation change.__For more information regarding regulation changes, please contact the Fish and Wildlife office in that area:_• Fish & Wildlife Area Contacts __Posted: Sep 16, 2016 _

Read on mywildalberta, click fishing then click regulations and the on the left click stoney lake and u will see that it has been changed to a 0 retention as of September...if that's not enough call your local f&w officer if you don't believe it
by Mikey1781 on Dec. 30, 2016
And i just read the regs again and there is nothing about a change on this lake. Still says 10.

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 30, 2016
There are no posts around the lake stating its 0 limit. No fish cops around and my in laws live in the area and go here all the time. There was a very big summer kill but there are still perch being caught. We were there today and only kept 4 due to them not biting. But there are no signs at the one entry point on this lake.

by T-man on Dec. 30, 2016
It is true... go to mywildalberta.com under regulations/ Stoney lake it says it's been changed to zero limit and there has been signage at various access point on the lake to inform public

by Reel Crazy on Dec. 30, 2016
Sure isn't closed, regs still say 10 Perch in case anyone was wondering about the false post below. I was there on Wednesday and it hasn't summer killed either as the guys fishing next to us were seeing tons of fish on the camera but they just were not very interested. We still managed 20 keepers between the 3 of us. People fishing around us had similar luck. I just don't like when ppl make false posts. How about just don't post at all. Tight lines everyone!

by DAFISH on Dec. 30, 2016
It summer killed, and the limit has been changed to zero! Read the regulations folks!

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 28, 2016
Ill be heading here on friday ill post and let people know how the fish r but in laws have gotten there limit and they usually dont keep smaller ones so must still have decent sized fish.

by N83 on Dec. 26, 2016
Any ice reports ?

by Whitefish18 on Dec. 24, 2016
Any nice perch? Where abouts on the lake

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 24, 2016
Hey all i havent been out but inlaws said the perch are biting. Happy fishing
by Walleye master on Dec. 21, 2016
Hey mike are the perch dead

by Mikey1781 on Dec. 14, 2016
Really bad summer kill this year due to the blue algae. Inlaws should be heading out to try soon and see what its like now. Hopefully its still not bad cause this lake was so awesome for a good day of perch fishing.

by Perchman200 on Sep. 29, 2016
Slav98 I use a tiny jig with meal worm or maggots. About 10-13 feet of water. Took me a while to find them but once I did they were bitting fairly steady. Had throw back lots of littler ones also.

by Slav98 on Sep. 26, 2016
Perchman200, what kind of lure/bait/line you use to cach perch on this lake?

by Perchman200 on Sep. 25, 2016
Slower perch fishing this weekend but managed to get a nice limit of perch 10-12 inches.

by concerened for the lake on Sep. 5, 2016
Lake is pretty much finished now algae spread by too many people not washing there gear between lakes to much garbage and pollution to the thousands of people that soiled the lake to its tipping point good work which lake is next.

by Masonbuchanan on Aug. 28, 2016
Major summer kill. Sad to see.
by Redneckfish on Jan. 21, 2019
Good 18 plus inches of ice lots of 6in pech on camera as well as a few good size looking jacks. Lots of perch with white stuff on them...
